Strength:

Rigid construction, realistic reproduction of mid/high frequency sounds, excellent performance during both movies and music

Weakness:

Made of plastic! c'mmon JBL your high end speakers show you know what good looks are! couldn't you let some of that trickle down to this modle?

This speaker is an excellent addition to the home theatre/stereo system. With its rich sound and good frequency responce this speaker performs superbly. The speaker lacks lower frequencies but the heights are good and the vocals are realistic... as a center channel should be. This speaker effortlessly delivers smooth clean sound in both movies and music. Overall a great all round speaker.

Strength:

SOUND, clairity, PRICE, design hey it's a JBL!!!

Weakness:

IT's BIG! Barely sits on top of my TV. Cat has knocked it over, dinged the wall pretty bad,,,not even a mark on speaker.

I work as an audio engineer and this speaker is by far the best bang for the buck. I have personally tested a few dozen pro and home set ups....and my JBL beats them all hands down/ Even speakers that cost 100's more. The ONLY speakers better than this is the mackie or genlec pro monitors for center channel. BUY THIS UNIT if you are looking for a centerl channel. Look no further.

Strength:

Perhaps the finest midrange and treble I've had the pleasure to hear, it sounds bright without the harshness. Bass is tight but not weak, when I can find a more musical subwoofer the full range sound will kick ass. In general, the Studio series has impressed me.

Weakness:

Kind of large, making it tricky to place. I also am not taken on the plastic case, but it seems to be strong as it does not vibrate much at high volume.

In my quest for high fidelity at a low price, I decided to give JBL a try. I've owned some relatively inexepensive JBL products before, and I love the smooth sound. I have not had an oppurtunity to use this center for movies yet, but if it is anywhere as impressive as it is playing music, I am sure I have nothing to worry about. The Channel blends well with my S38II's, though I had to turn the level down a few notches to get it correctly balanced (It is simply more efficient).

Strength:

Best i've heard so far.

Weakness:

For all I can tell, the delivery charges if living out of U.E

Great product but I should warn you if you order from canada. Your delivery will be of about 25 A Doll, plus brockerage 39 Can Doll, and finally Can Taxes 29 Doll. So if you add that to your final cost and it comes over 300 it's not worth it. You can get the same product from chinatown Toronto at 299 tax included without the need of waiting for 3 days. That's my advice though. About the speaker, well it's just superb.

Strength:

Crisp clear sound. Dialog is incredible - close your eyes and the people could be standing right in your room. Music and sound effects are handled beautifully. The sound is well balanced from the crisp, clear, highs to the clean and airy midrange. The transparency of the sound is truly incrdible.

Weakness:

There's really nothing bad I can say about this speaker. If you can buy this guy for $170 or less for crying out loud do it now. The only thing that I could possibly say bad about it is that the bass is somewhat lacking - but you don't expect bass from your center speaker. But just let me clarify - the bass IS there, and it's crystal clear, however you're not going to get that boomy bass that you'll get from larger speakers or a sub. The dual mini-ports at the back provide MORE than adequate bass for a center speaker.

Now this is a center channel speaker. This baby pumps out the dialog, music, and sound effects of my DD and DTS soundtracks incredibly. If you are searching for a center channel speaker, especially if you have JBL main speakers, look no further. Even though this is the Studio series center, it compliments my JBL N38 northridge series very nicely. The soundstage is well balanced. Even though these speakers may not be perfectly voice matched to each other, the quality of the JBL line of speakers (both Northridge and Studio) makes up for it. The S-Center was only slightly more expensive than the N-center, and since the S is 3-way it was well worth it.

Atlantic technology center (kind of old). I can't even compare these two speakers without laughing. The JBL is the ONLY center speaker I will own for a long, long time. (Can you tell I'm impressed wit

Strength:

Extreme clarity and response.

Weakness:

None (even after 9 months)

This is the absolute best center channel I’ve ever heard! I researched Bose, Klipch, Infinity and Polk before purchasing the Studio Center. It replaced a simple Aiwa center from my old surround sound system. Night to absolute day! In my opinion, the center channel is the most important. When your DSP is set to surround sound mode, the majority of the output is through the center. Everything from the Simpson’s to Matrix sound amazing. Classical to heavy metal as well! I recommend this speaker to everyone from the casual listener to the enthusiast.

Strength:

Clean Sound, beautiful appearance

Weakness:

Slightly tall for center channel.

This speaker is outstanding. The idiot at a local electronics center told me how unimportant the center channel was (only for dialog) but reading here and elsewhere that is not true. Most of the dialog and sounds come through the center and this speaker works great. I looked at the Bose VC-10 since I have Bose but it sounded horrible compared to the JBL. I bought it delivered for $150! (2002) model. Using with new Onkyo TX SR600 I don't believe you can beat it for even close to the price. I plan on replacing my other speakers with more JBL.
