Strength:

Great sound, neutral, finish

Weakness:

None so far

My new S38 arrived, so I moved the s26 to the back. Boy, this speaker is great for surround, it outclassed my late n26 by 10 fold. More bass, better treble, less hiss, well, just great. Comparing the s26 to the s38 is another thing. The s38 is better in the midbass range, making a denser sound than the s26.

Strength:

Clarity, non biased sound

Weakness:

none so far, perhaps more definition on the midrange

Excelent speakers for the audio enthusiast on the budget.
The clarity of the music is excelent. I do really like a natural sound without artificial specularity.
Excelent bass response for all kind of music for a 6 inches woofer.
I tried first the N28 and the N38 and i brought them back to the store because of the bass (sometimes you get tired of hearing club like music).
Do not forget that these spkrs are used by professionals as monitors

Strength:

Great speakers. Sound terrific even they are not big speakers

Weakness:

I bought this and so satisfy by its quality. JBL is such a great company who can built this kind of quality for the speakers with this price range. Buy these speakers, and you will don't want to go to school.

Strength:

image, carity and vocal

Weakness:

upper bass and lower treble

This is a good speakers for the amp which is lack of treble and low frequency bass. Too exaggerated in emphasis the vocal, treble. It sounds not harsh, but it may feel like the overload sound that may hurt your ears that you won't stay long to stand it.

Forget about the CLUB feeling BASS, house, DJ style.
So good bass response for A/V and JAZZ.

I think it is worth to buy it if you have a mini system or
amp which is lack of so much treble and lower frequency bass.

Strength:

clarity, good surround speaker if matched with other JBL studio series speakers,

Weakness:

can't recommend these as main speakers, a little bright

These are decent surround speakers. They sound best with jazz/guitar. They are a tad bright just as most other JBL speakers, but this gives them some clarity. Their bass is ok, not great. If you are into house, rap, etc. there are better speakers than this.

They work best matched with other JBL S-series speakers.

I don't think i could recommend these for use as main speakers, but they are just fine for surrounds.
They are a little big for surround speakers.

Buy these online, not at Best buy or crutchfield. They cost almost half as much online.

Strength:

Seem to be extremely well made in all respects. Tight, strong and fast bass for a speaker of this size, especially when placed near a wall. Very detailed sound, extended highs. Good dispersion, not "boxy."

Weakness:

Upper midrange and lower treble are emphasized. There is very little lower midrange/upper bass. The resulting "clarity" is exciting at first, but not the sound is not natural or refined.

This speaker would probably be good in a video set-up. For music, I prefer a fuller midrange. (If anyone wants to buy my pair or sell me a JBL L1, a model from the early 90's that is similar in size but with a more laid-back sound, please email me at destrella@altavista.net).

Various JBL, Boston Acoustics, Polk, Paradigm, PSB, others. Nothing in this price range from other companies can match the bass of the s26 or build quality.

Strength:

Looks really cool, very good bass for bookshelf speaker, affordable

Weakness:

Would be perfect if it was 3 way instead of 2

Very nice looking especially on my Mission alluminum stands which I paid $100/each. Plenty of bass for a bookshelf speaker. I drive these JBLs with a Pionner mini system which puts out only 18 watts per channel and I couldn't believe the bass, imagine how good they are hooked up to a real receiver.

Strength:

Visually striking with grilles removed, good bass response from a bookshelf speaker. Banana plug inputs

Weakness:

None

Good speaker for audio enthusiasts on a budget(like me).
Sound is well balanced...not too bright, and as mentioned above, good bass response. And also, they seem to be very well constructed as well.My setup is not very high end, but for a system on a budget it performs very well.

My setup;
JBL S26
Onkyo TX-8511 receiver
Onkyo DX-C370 6 CD changer
Onkyo TA-RW244 dual well cass. deck
Philips CDR880 CD burner
Technics SL-PD8 5 CD changer (for dubbing duties)
Monster Cable Interconnects
Monster 16 gauge speaker wire
One For All Cinema 7 Universal remote
