Dynaudio Confidence C1 Bookshelf Speakers

Dynaudio Confidence C1 Bookshelf Speakers

DESCRIPTION

Dynaudio introduces the new Confidence C1, the first compact loudspeaker in the innovative, high-performance Confidence series. The technology is based on the development of the Confidence C2 and C4 models, integrated into a two-way design with a clear-cut but individually contoured shape.

The C1 was developed to be used both as a two-channel stereo speaker as well as a main, side or rear channel speaker in a surround set-up in the Confidence performance level. The C1 base plinth is designed with integrated mounting holes to accommodate the new Dynaudio Stand², a solid and aesthetically suitable base for the loudspeaker. The C1 may also be placed on bookshelves or into A/V cabinetry if necessary.

Strength:

Everything you might expect and a little more. Even work in big rooms!

Weakness:

None.

At 5000 euos a pair + 330 for the stands and - in my case - another 500 for a special wood finish (only two are available for the basic price), you are entitled to expect something excellent. The Confidence C1 is excellent, but is it so excellent as to justify the price? I had no intention of spending this much on speakers. I had already decided on the Pathos Classic One hybrid amp and a Densen 400 XS G cd player (see my reviews on these pages). I was aiming for the Dynaudio Contour 1.4, which retailes for 2500 plus stands. Then just for the heck of it, I thought I'd give the C1 a shot. I never expected them to be good enouogh to justify the price, I just wanted to feel better about getting the Contour 1.4 :-) The 1.4 I was using were well driven in, the C1 were brand new. Dynaudio ask for a 200 hour drive in periode - and still I couldn't believe the difference! Don´t get me wrong, the Contour 1.4 is great! The best I know for the price. And still the C1 blows it away. Everything is better. More detail, more musicality, more sparkle (if you know what I mean), even better imaging and focus. I prefer stand mounted speakers by far. Logic tells you you have to spend twice as much on floor standers to get the same quality, simply because there will be more material used, more parts, longer cables etc. Also, stand mounted image better and you avoid the problems that almost inevitably come with an overly powerfull bass. Of all speakers I have ever listened to, the C1 are in a class of their own even now - less than half way through the drive in period. If you can mortgage your house again, do it. It was never more worth it.

Weakness:

His sensibility (85db) that forces to have a very good amplifier.

I think is one of the best bookshelf speaker I´ve ever heard. They´ve a total control of the music in all frecuencies and the stage is very deep. I´m very proud of them.
