The Digital Phase AP-.7 Studio Monitors are exceptionally musical, reproducing instruments and voice with a very high degree of uncolored clarity. Sound stage is rendered naturally with sound source locations fairly identifiable utilizing well recorded media. Frequency response is very linear from 20k+ Hertz down to barely below 40 Hertz, where it takes a steep dive. For some music genre, a subwoofer is not necessary.

These loudspeakers exhibit surprisingly good dynamics, although I am uncertain how they perform with very demanding material. I listen to jazz primarily and to pop music and classical rock secondarily, so I can not comment on their performance with other music genre. Fans of AV theater and heavy rock must listen and judge for themselves.

During the past several years, Digital Phase has developed a few driver and crossover upgrades for its loudspeakers. I have not had these installed in my 14 year old units, but now plan to replace my AP-.7 monitors with a pair of the most recent version AP-.7CC loudspeakers. Those MTM configuration speakers will be mounted vertically to conserve horizontal space in my audio system.

I highly recommend the Digital Phase AP-.7 monitors for their exceptional musicality, very good sound stage, broad frequency response, fine build quality, and performance value. They genuinely are excellent speakers.
