Clarity Range- very good for a small speaker

Price

These babies are awesome. I was totally surprised with their clarity and range. I am using the 600's as a surround speaker and they upstage my full range Advent Legacy's up front. Orignally, I preferred the 601 but they were $100 more and bulkier. I figured for surrounds I could go smaller. But, I was blown away with the sound coming from the 600's in 5-channel stereo. I am jsut waiting to blow my the woofers on my Advents so I can replace them with full range 603 and complete my B&W HT setup.

Strength:

Sound larger than their size. Rich sound. Great looking speaker.

Weakness:

Not enough bottom end for larger rooms.

What a huge sound for such a small speaker! I'm using these for a 2-channel setup in my bedroom for which they are perfect. I know many will use these as surrounds, but they are fantastic for a smaller mains setup. Or using them with a sub would be great too. These 600's are so worth the extra $50 over the 303's! Get these instead of the 303's please. I set them up in my larger living room (on top of my 602's) by themselves and they filled the room with great rich sound. They don't have the deepest bass for a larger room like this, but considering their size they is more and better bass than you'd expect. Certainly a soundstage large enough to fill most rooms. If you're on a budget or tight on space go with these. Way better than the 303's. They're also beautiful looking.

Strength:

Reputation Sound gold bindings

Weakness:

Would prefer the box was not made of chipboard.

These are value for money! Very robust and detailed sound. Bass was better than expected for the size although my Jamo sub (100 watt) picks up the low end. Won't break up when cranked up loud. The 601's did not perform better with both DVD and CD in my mind. Plenty of volume and attractive with grill off. Driven with Marantz SR5200. I am considering VM1's for centre and rear. Forget similarly priced Yamo's.

Strength:

small, great sound, great quality.

Weakness:

No bi-wire

Good match to my 602's in the home theatre package. Will be buying another pair for the office stereo. Compared them with the 303's. There was no comparison. Well worth the extra $50.

Strength:

detailed treble thanks to that Nautilus tweeter very good bass performance for thier size build quality nice speaker terminals Price

Weakness:

.Nothing of significance .Would be nice if they where bi-wired .Errr.....unprotected tweeter

I'm surprised that I'm the first person to write a review on these little gems. I originally brought them to us as the rear surrounds in my Marantz and B&W HT set-up. I later found that they had other talents. I needed a pair of bookshelf speakers to go with my 3yr old Arcam/Rotel hi-fi system as I had sold my old speakers to a friend. I thought as I liked the B&W S3's so much it would be only natural to by the 601 s3 so I arranged an audition. I audition the KEF Q1 and the 600 s3 just to compare. The results were surprising the Q1s had good dynamics, bass was quite weighty but the midrange and treble seemed a little closed-in the 601 where an improvement but when compared with the little 600's they had very similar resolution witch was to be expected and the treble is very detailed but the larger speaker on the 601 didn’t seem to make much if any difference when it came to low frequencies they really can punch above their weight the 600’s. With that I decided to use them with my stereo system and they sound fantastic oh, and I saved 200 odd quid, which is nice!
