Strength:

Clear detailed image on most material. Non fatiguing.

Weakness:

Driver mount vibrates against the cabinets during certain songs.

I used the 602 s3''s for 10 days before I discovered a defect in the speaker mount. On certain songs one of the 602 drivers would vibrate wildly. On the majority of music this was undetectable however. The 601s at the dealer even did this vibration. We confirmed it wasnt the source. The same source material made the back of my LCR60 vibrate as well. I am going to buy a different kind of speaker.

Strength:

Dynamic, great for hometheater or CD. Full body, forward sound and produce timbre, voice accurately. No nasal sound if don''t listen in its axis or sweet spot (this happen on the 601 speakers)

Weakness:

Soundstage? Is it a true gimmick or I don''t have Class A amplifier and DVD player?

Got 601 speakers and tried it for 1 week, and I exchanged them for 602. This speakers are great, I mostly used them for hometheater and some CD listening with my sony DVP-S7000 and Denon 2700 AV receiver. These speakers are dynamic, very dynamic for home theater and CD without showing any sign of rudeness, its body is full and reproduce voice and instruments accurately. I also listened to the top rated Tannoy M2 and many others on the same price range, and I definitively picked this one over the rest, the reasons: Others sound safe, polite, too polite, lack of dynamics so they hide details. In short, these are timeless design and they don''t dissapoint. You can listen to these speakers for hours w/o feeling tired. I don''t know what the ProAct Tablette sound, but I can''t imagine that they can be any audible different.

Strength:

Highs! Mids! Tight Bass! THE LOOKS!!!

Weakness:

Only the lowest frequenzies, but what do you expect from speakers this size?

I own four of these fabulous spekaers! Using two of them in my stereo-system, and two of them, in my surround-system, together with a B&W LCR60 S3 center channel, I''ve taken them to the test both in movies and music! The only thing I can say is that I''m mighty impressed! The 602 S2''s are really articulate, the highs and mids are just really smooth, and the lows are actually there! Not bad for such a small, stand-mounted speaker! I''ve also tested the 603''s, but i think the lows are too blurry... Therefore, I really recommend the 602''s, whith a really tight bass and probably the best mids and highs in the price-range! Im planning to use the 602''s both as front and rears, but I need a bigger room! The speakers sound really great together with the LCR60 S3, even though this is from the new series! Strength:

Overall balance, exceptional treble and midrange.... loud.

Weakness:

None really

I have been living with these for 2 years now and they still impress me.... I love the sound of these B+Ws. The top end is fantastic - cymbals sound like cymbals not ''ttzzz'', mid range is clean and neutral and bass is solid and deep. They sound ''fast'' and punchy and really musical with superb imaging - very open and ''airy''. They are unhappy near walls and need good solid stands. They appear easy to drive and look good too.... They are not small ;-) though, and prefer a medium sized room over a small one..... Used with (mostly) Marantz CD-6000OSE, Marantz CD-17, Marantz PM 6010OSE, Quad 405/2, Quad 420f, Sony STE-300, Toshiba PC-X80AD Aurex cassette deck, Rega Planar 3/Ortofon VMS20E.

Strength:

Accuracy. With classical I can hear the hall, live jazz reproduces the club. I''''ve never enjoyed Brubeck''''s "Time Out" more than I have since I got the 602''''s. While they do even better with higher end equipment, you don''''t need to spend $2000+ on amplification to get decent sound.

Weakness:

Considering that they''''re 2-way bookshelfs, both the Series 2 and Series 3''''s perform extremely well. However, other speakers in their class have more low-end extension.

I own the 602S2''''s along with a CC6 and LM-1''''s for the rears. A velodyne FSX-12 rounds out the 5.1 setup. I started with a pair of hand-me-down Bose 501 series II''''s from 1977 and a Yamaha Active Servo 80 watt sub. That all blended together nicely and sounded decent at the time. Then I stumbled into Listen Up and auditioned the 602''''s and 603''''s. I actually prefered the 602''''s over the 603''''s since the 603''''s sounded a touch less clear and more boomy. Anyway, mating them with the Yamaha sub revealed just how crappy it really was and I ended up getting the Velodyne FSX-12. They''''re hooked up to my Yamaha HTR-5460 via Synergistic Research''''s Silver Copper matrix Alpha speaker cables. It''''s a budget receiver, but I bought it on a budget and so far it sounds superb. The 602''''s don''''t dip super low, but on good stands and well placed in a room I don''''t get that boominess that others seem to complain about. Without a sub, they deliver decent punch, precise imaging, and gorgeous sound. They like to play loud though in order to really open up. They really shine when I use the crossover in the Yamaha to slope everything below 90Hz and allow the Velodyne to fill in the bottom. The warm and accurate midrange does wonders on classical and jazz CD''''s, yet even remains tight and focused with modern rock. I stopped by Listen Up recently and got a chance to audition the 602S3''''s next to the 602S2''''s and all I have to say is "wow." I thought the S2''''s sounded big for their size but the S3''''s sounded huge. Same amp, same preamp, same CD deck, same CD (The Eagles'''' Hell Freezes Over disk). The S3''''s also sounded warmer with a touch more extension on the low end. If I had the $600 to snatch a pair, I would in a heartbeat. As is I''''ll have to remain content with dreaming.

Strength:

Affordable loudspeakers, probably one of the best in its price range. Good mid-range. Solid drivers that do not vibrate much.

Weakness:

Plastic front panel and plastic grill destroys the aesthetics, makes them look cheap. The plastic could have been hidden underneather the wood panel. Only a 7 inch mid-range woofer, too small for bass. Mid-range tends to be spoiled when bass levels get too high, because it is only a 2 way speaker and can''t handle both together (though that would apply to all 2 way systems). My tweeter came with a small dent in it, this should be sold in a different category to retail price.

I bought B&W DM602 S2 speakers because college friends advised me that these were the best match for a dorm room, for the price. I used them in a 2 channel system for music. I like bass, but could not afford speakers with adequate sized woofers. To those who can afford them, I recommend woofers of 10 to 15 inch if you like bass, since 7 inch is not enough. And i found 120 watts (8ohms) was not enough either, for my purposes. I like to adjust the bass and intend on getting a Class A 60 watt amp, with high current, so i want speakers much more powerful than the RMS wattage of the amp, about 200-250 watts RMS. I want speakers that can perform when i play around with settings of my sound card. I''m no audiophile because i drive my music from my hard drive on my PC, but this my preference and I am happy with the mid-range quality from an mp3. It is easier to mix music off a PC anyway. Plus I have the advantage of playing games, recording music and doing other things with my system too. The factor that inspired me to buy decent speakers, was that i got bored with my computer speakers. You''ll certainly drive your mp3s much louder with these speakers or any above this range. Also, i bought these more affordible speakers, so i could buy a better amp. The marantz amp i used was worth almost double the price of the speakers. I used these speakers in a dorm room, in which these speakers performed perfectly, they were bit too loud for a university campus, but they were fun. Outside of a small room, they struggled to perform. I would still buy 10 inch speakers if i had the money. B&W have excessive prices once you buy anything with 10 inch woofers. I have considered JBL''s studio series, the s310 or s312''s, which get a higher review from this site, and are made in the US. These are renowned for bass and quality, at an affordable price. B&W DM602 S2 speakers are good, but will leave you with the desire to buy a subwoofer or a complete new set of speakers if you want bass. I recommend them to people that want mid range, otherwise consider JBL speakers, or some other brand with 3 way speakers, so that bass and mid range are kept separate, and thus, the bass sounds better.

Strength:

everything. I rate this speaker a 6 out of 5, beat that.

Weakness:

You must be joking.. weaknesses? hahaha

Price I paid was actually £300, but why we can`t put the figure in pounds is beyond me. Anyway, what an amazing speaker. There`s simply nothing at the price to touch these. They sound much larger than they look, and that`s BIG for a standmounter. Bass is incredible - they sound like floorstanding speakers - as is the treble and mids. Maybe the people who complained about a lack of bass are deaf?? Soundstaging is terrific too.

I built my entire system from scratch a couple months ago. It had to come in at under $3000, all told. Bear in mind that I could have built it much cheaper online, but I wanted to support the local audio dealers. The Denon AVR-2800 receiver I went with had 5 channel stereo, so I bought these 602 S2's as front speakers and some Infinity Composition Overture 1's as rears. My listening space is far from ideal: a small brick box of an apartment, but I am quite happy with my purchases. The B&W's sound great - very clear overall, which I notice with vocals in particular. I managed to get the Infinities to complement the bass, without being overwhelming in this little space (they have powered 8" woofers, which I faced UP to the ceiling.)

The other components of my system are: receiver: Denon AVR-2800, rear speakers: Infinity Composition Overture 1, CD player: Denon DCM-370, headphones: Grado Labs SR125.

Strength:

It's overall performance and clarity.

Weakness:

None really.

Picked up a pair of 602 S2's about three months ago and i havent been dissapionted since. Great overall sound!!
I use them as my front speakers and listen to a lot of ordinary 2-channel music as well as home cinema. Work perfectly in both situations.

They were a little flat in the beginning but after about 100 hours they losened up.
There currently hooked up to a Pioneer 708 (5x60) and work fine.
The only thing that i could complain about would be the lack of deep bass. But i don't think you can expect that from a speaker this size.
Plan on getting 601 S2's ase rear speakers and LRC6 as a center. And to end everything off i'll probobly buy a ASW-500.

In conclusion a great speaker to buy!!!!!!!

Strength:

Very detailed, good imaging, tight suprisingly controlled bass.

Weakness:

-NONE-

I bought my DM 602 S2's after hearing them several times over a 7 month period. I had recently bought a B&W LCR6 S2 center channel after deciding it was simply the best sounding center I had heard. I figured I would build from the center out, and am slowly piecing together a 602/fronts, LCR6/center, 601/rears and Paradigm PW-2200 sub speaker system.

I originally brought home a pair of 604 S2's to try out, and liked them, but had to return them (way too expensive for my budget right now). I decided to give the 602's a go at it, and boy am I impressed!!! I am using a Pioneer Elite VSX-26TX to push them, and they just seemed to open right up! To me, they sounded much better in my home with my equipment than the 604's did. The detail and soundstage were an improvement over my Vandy 1B's, which surprised me greatly. The 602's have a nice, controlled bass that never seems to overextend itself and get mushy. I have them setting on Premier 20" stands and really could not be more pleased with the overall sound and appearance. The soundstage from the 602's to my LCR6 is about as seamless as it gets (with 3 602's being an exception).

At the moment I am using Monster 12 gauge wire, but will upgrade to Tara Labs Prism Bi-wire soon as I am able. I am presently using this wire with my LCR6.

Give the 602's a home demo before buying the 603's or 604's. If you are planning on going with a decent sub anyway you might be spending more than you need to!
