I have always had very nice stereo systems and had AR 4 speakers as a kid. I bought these off ebay more than 4 years ago and I have to say that these are the best sounding speakers I have ever owned! They are perfect for near field monitors which is what I use them for. I have been a musician all my life and I demand quality sound. These speakers are placed at either end of my desk about 7 feet apart. almost close enough to touch but not quite. I run them through a 1977 Marantz 2226-B receiver as my pre amp and a 1968 Sherwood S-8000 80 watt receiver as my power amp.
