Strength:

This discman is simply awesome, the sound is supurb and it feels much more solid than any other discman I've owned. The small size is a dream, I can almost fit it in my jeans pocket! The aluminum lid offers thatextra security of having something much stronger than the cheap plastic of lesser models. The skip protection is excellent to, it simply doesn't skip. The backlit displays are wonderful for using the discman in the dark, and the remote in the headphones is too cool, and it's baclit like the display on the discman itself too!! And it even comes with a beautiful case to carry your new toy in, it feels like velvet!

Weakness:

The headphones that come with it are pretty good for there size, and the fact that they are so compact and foldable is wonderful, but I do somethimes find myself longing for bigger sound, but a pair of sweet senhieser headphones took care of that problam immeadiatly :-)

This thing is so sweet!!! If you must have the best this is the best, if you can swing the $200-plus price tag, buy it, the sound will make up for the price in every way!!

Two other top of the line car discman's from Sony (inculding the D-848k, the best and most expensive discman made by sony, very cool. The lid was motorized and it was all backlit and included a wireless backlit remote with it's own display!, I deciced to retire that to my home stereo for fear of hurting it, for it cost $400 dollars, but was worth every penny! It how ever is longer in production and was very big to carry around)

What a huge improvement over my previous personal CD player. I originally bought one of the first CD players with any sort of buffer -- a somewhat large Sony with only a 3 second memory in which regular batteries only lasted 2 hours! The 808 is great, the replacement for the 805. It has most of the features of Sony's top-of-the-line personal CD player, the 900, just with an illuminated display on the aluminum cover and a better shuttle/jog remote control. The only complaints I have with it are the inferior sound quality of the stock open ear type head phones - which I quickly swapped for my "reference" quality pair -- and the shock protection. It still isn't near the length of the 40 second buffers found on the Panasonic units and walking with it still causes it to skip.

Strength:

the weight and the thickness are a plus. It's light and thin. the remote on the headphones are great, an you can do any kind of operation on the headphones as you can on the discman.

Weakness:

The radius is larger than my previous discman. The player makes quite a bit of noise when it is playing (especially when the esp in on). The ESP is not what i expected and it on ly takes a couple of taps to make it skip. Longer battery life is definitely needed. The headphones are a bit weak and when you have them dangling from your ear, they feel off balance.

overall, the product isn't bad, but it's not great. It's worth your money but don't expect a lot from this. i f you are picky about the quality of your discman then search for another. Otherwise this is worth your money
