The backlight feature on the display is very useful for night time use. very durable and sturdy construction.
The sound "beats" out other cd players in its price range.
the 40 second anti-skip feature is awesome; unit was taken while jogging and didn't miss a beat. recommended buy.

This is my first aiwa product, but I can definitely say that the name aiwa means quality. I had an RCA disc player before this one that worked well, but eventually died, due to overuse. This player works better, sounds better, and has better antiskip features than the RCA did and is overall a very fine product. I especially like the backlit display and the longevity of battery life that this player promotes: 21 hours of listening on two double A batteries...something very good for those of us out there who hate stopping for those duracells. I've never used the chargable feature for the NiCad batteries so I don't know how that exactly works. I would recommend this to anyone interested in a good listening experience.

10 second electronic anti shock system is awesome, using the 40 second EASS degrades sound quality slightly. Backlit display very helpful in dim light situations. Good sounding headphones included as well as car-kit accessories. Has rechargeable Ni-Cad battery feature with built in recharger. You can shake this thing and even bang on it in the EASS mode and it won't miss a beat.

I purchased this item and immediately used it in the car on the drive home and was amazed that it didn't skip at all when I drove over rough road. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I hadn't even turned on the anti-shock (skip) system yet! Great little player!

I received this as a gift from my grandparents last christmas. i have taken this player with me on planes and car trips, the car plug in is very convienant for trips so you don't waste your batteries. this This is a very sleek and easy to use cd player. I have not had to go beyond the 10 second EASS setting yet. a very good product.

Tendency to stop playing on select CD's

I loved the sound quality (and still do) when I bought the player but after a few months a few of the CD's I recieved would have problems playing (yes they do work in other players). Skipping a few seconds frequently until the song is incommprihensable. Aiwa has great sound quality but I now question their reliability.

My daughter bought this player from Circuit City in january. This first one failed within a week. It would not play any CD's. Circuit City replaced it. The second one failed one month later. Same symtoms. Circuit City said they would not replace it after 30 days. They said we had to deal with Aiwa. After a long phone call they told my wife that there was a local authorized repair shop. We took it there.

After not hearing for a couple of weeks we called them. They said Aiwa was now telling them that they would not supply the parts to the dealer and that we would have to ship the palyer back to Aiwa.

I am very concerned with the relaiblity of another unit. I intend to ask Aiwa for a refund. Judging from there response so far I am not optimistic.

We bought our son a metal case panasonic player for Christmas and in my opinion this is a far superior unit. Definitely more ruggedly built. I especially like the double latch system on the cover.
