I got this unit some months ago. I have had and heard really big amount of music systems so that u can believe to what I`m saying about this.First of all i didn`t expected something serious from this unit and noone should do it.It`s portable after all.But i noticed some troubles this unit has that i would never refer to brand like jvc. This thing occured to be very disapointing for me. The most noticeable problem is when cd is played-u can hear sounds like cracle when skipping or loading cds.The records from it are absolutly bad so u almost cant use it to copy cds on types. The most important thing-the sound. It`s really not loud enough to fill any room but what can u expect from 2x2W thd 10%.It`s rediculously powerless amp.No bass too.Even my expensive pioneer headphones don`t sound good when put on it.No eq functions no volume control on the remote no random play. No need to say more.I wouldn`t use this thing even like my second music system.

Strength:

Sound for the price and size; no distortion; CD-R/CD-RW compatible; easy to use

Weakness:

No Tone control; not enough volume; no Random play on CD; remote only does CD player; CD door sticks sometimes

This unit I got as a Christmas gift. I wanted something I could listen to at work that plays CDs. It does this and more. The sound quality is superb for such an inexpensive unit. It does lack low end bass, but I am not expecting that from this little unit. It plays CD-R and CD-RW which is nice. It won't let you distort the unit, but on the otherhand, it doesn't get really loud. I could have used a digital tuner instead of a manual one, they should have put a bass and treble control, but to me, they seemed to have EQ'd it so that it isn't too harsh or too muddy. The only thing I've had a problem with is the CD door sticking shut. I haven't played many tapes on it, just when I first got it to see if it worked or not. The remote only controls the CD player, and the player doesn't have Random.
