I had a super huge antenna like this in 1980 in high school could pick up Dallas from stillwater OK (280 miles). If you add a GOOD (most suck unfort.)Magnum Power Sleuth 2002 (1980) you can almost double the signal without the added noise cheap ant. amps give. The Magnum is tunable in both gain and frequency and cost 200 bucks in 1980 - don't know if you can find one today. This was a "car radio" model so a used a AC/DC power regulator for home use.
