Strength:

The "Play Trim" control is the best feature. Almost any cassette recorded on any cassette deck can be made to sound bright and musical, and not dull

Weakness:

The Dolby Noise reduction switch "forgets" the Dolby selection when the power is turned off; You must remember to select the proper Dolby system (B or C) every time you turn the deck on; the deck defaults to Dolby OFF every time the power is turned off. This is not a problem for me, since I usually do not record or play tapes with Dolby.

Single cassette deck, Excellent sound. I consider "Play Trim" a Must on a cassette deck; It allows you to brighten the sound of dull cassettes (or cut the highs, if a cassett sounds overly bright.). Generally, I find old cassettes, or cassettes recorded on other machines to be dull sounding. Play Trim particularly works well if the cassette was recorded with Dolby B or C. Recordings of the radio on TDK "D" tapes sound exactly like the radio source when played back; When CDs are recorded, you can tell that there is some loss of "punch" and soundstage. Very simple controls, no fancy features such as automatic search or reverse. Very clear fluorescent peak level display with peak hold and a digital counter. There is a bias adjust to tweak tapes when recording and a multiplex filter switch. A button can select repeat for the whole side of the cassette, or repeat for a programmed block of time. I have never had any mechanical trouble with the deck, and it gets played about an hour every day. I still listen to many cassettes, and record radio programs.
