Strength:

Good price and warranty.

Weakness:

none yet.

I was experiencing the "electric chair" effect (dimming of my lights) and some short outs when running an electric heater with my a/v equipment. So I ran out and picked this up and I'm pretty happy knowing that my $12k plus investment is protected. The built in meter is a good gauge to see exactly the flux and inconsistency from the incoming current. Plenty of options for equipment plug-ins. Except there isn'te a specific outlet for the sub. Which is dissappointing. I ended up pluging into the "pre-amp" outlet. All in all it's comforting to know that everything is protected with the $100k warranty.

As far as clarity and sound... I notice a slight improvement on the audio end, but that could be my imagination. But then again, I've only had it for about a week. If you could get it for $300 or less, it's a good buy.

Oh by the way, the manual IS pretty crappy. It's a xerox with a staple in it. Talk about low budge. Sheesh!

Strength:

Fairly inexpensive, nice voltage display, sounds great

Weakness:

Hmm, maybe the lights are bright

Ok, I noticed a significant difference in the sound after I added this little guy into the system. Things calmed down, the highs were a little more laid back (the Snell E5 tower is a fairly forward sounding speaker) and the bass tightened up. Keep in mind, however, that my house had about the worst power you could imagine (9 computers, 8 refrigerators, 9 in-window AC's) and I *KNOW* it played havoc with my system.
It made only slight improvements to my TV- the blacks seemed darker and the colors were a little more saturated. It did clean up my cable, however. (Not a lot, but then again Fidelity Cable in Rolla SUCKS and there's nothing the 3500 can fix)
You might get different results. As for the LED's on the front. Geez you guys are picky. Yeah, they're kinda bright but it's not like staring into a headlight or something. I'm glad I made this purchase and between the piece of mind and the performance, I would be hard pressed to find a more substantial improvememnt to ANY system for $300.
Oh, and the "audiophile" who uses the $10 power strip isn't fooling anybody. No Audiophile would consider doing such a thing.

Strength:

Great sound, better dynamics, soundstage and focus

Weakness:

Video may have slight improvement but not drastic

I feel it was well worth the money spent, just for the audio improvement. It looks good And performs as expected. I don't believe you could get a better product at close to this price that does everything this one does. I believe Richard Marsh and Monster Cable did us right by this one.

Strength:

audio, video improvements, and surge protection

Weakness:

could use higher quality outlets, when plugging in components back panel feels flimsy. instruction book (if you get one)

I just received the HTS3500 and am pleased with the improvment to both, audio and video. The picture went from good to better and audio sounds smoother. Less grunge. I didn't really notice any difference on the bottom end but overall this is a very good Powerconditioner, except where sturdy build is concerned. The back of the unit felt thin. Whenever I plug something in I feel like my hand is going to go through the back. This hasn't happened yet, and I don't think it will. Better outlets(like hospital grade) would be nice. Hospital grade have a nice feel to them, are built better and they grip your plug like a vise. I use these in all my A / V outlets Five stars for it's price range, $400

When comparing this unit to the Panamax 1500, I preferred the Monster Cable 1500 performance slightly more than the 1500. It performs very well for what it is; a budget line conditioner surge protector under $500.
Build quality is pretty nice too. If I had a LOT of extra money, I would probably spend it on a PS Audio Power Block which generates its own clean power. Until I move to a house I am holding off spending extra on better wiring.

In conclusion, this is a very acceptible line conditioner for a budget price but without any REAL features except for a remote detection mode for your amps when connected to a preamp.

Strength:

What a difference this baby makes for my cable signal and all the components that I have plugged into it. This unit is great as far as I can tell. My entire system is plugged into this unit.

Weakness:

None found yet

I said it all above. I'm glad that I bought this unit if I was going to put a lot of money into a home theater system, then I was going to protect it with this type of unit.

Strength:

detected improper ground, organization, aesthetics

Weakness:

?

This product looks good, really helps organize all the annoying wires and such (It's great to have one single solid unit to plug things into that you know can handle it), and it actually helped make me aware of an improper ground, confirmed when I had electricians come out.

But after reading the negative reviews here, I just feel I'd like the company to do something about this. Is there a problem? Shouldn't the product be discontinued? $400 is a lot of money to spend to ruin the sound of high end systems, if that's what's happening. I see this product used at high-end stores as well.

If there's a problem with the stage 3 filtering, then let's get it nailed down, have a magazine do an investigation or something, and see if we can get the company to offer a rebate on a trade-in for a 2000 or a fixed 3500 or something.

I'm not sure if I can detect the problem, as I've used it with my system from the start (haven't tried the system without it much.... once you get everything plugged into this thing, it's kind of a pain to pull everything apart) but I suspect there may be something to the complaints.

Have the HTS 3000, wanted another & got the 3500 home & it went right back. The voltage meter is way off. The store gave me another one & I opened it there & same thing. Whereas the 3000 showed 118 volts in my home & store the 3500 showed 128, the 3500 also gave a buzzing sound form the meter. The displays in the store showed the same they had a 3000 & 3500 next to it. Luckily they had another 3000 in a case never used of which is mine now. It seems the only improvement Monster made was for there profits, the 3500 gives you less & costs more. Also I peeked inside & the 3500 has a smaller board inside with much less devices on it. Too bad I can't give it NO STARS but 1 is the least. It is a real piece of garbage.

In my opinion, I feel that this unit has gotten alot of bad rap because of the name it carries. We all know that monster cable makes a pretty good product, not the best, but good, so what do you expect. For the money, it does the job. It has a good number of outlets, remote turn on setting, timed on and off sets, and average power filtration. My meter is accurate, but the light inside the casing is off-centered. By the way, I picked this product up with the intention of returning it because I didn't think it was going to work. I was wrong, it worked pretty good. My fronts have self-powered subs in them, so I plugged them into the power center. To my surprise, the bass was tighter, and faster. When watching movies, the quiet passages seemed more quiet, and I picked up more detail. I also had a bit of hum, which could only be heard when there was no signal in the reciever and the volume was up, that is gone. I almost forgot the most important aspect about it, it protects your stuff, with a lifetime warranty. not bad.
