Strength:

Fits in my library shelving and looks nice. Radio has good reception.

Weakness:

Poor sound quality. No equalizers to adjust the tone. The Bass Boost overwhelms the sound. CD changer worked at first, then didn't work right, now won't work at all.

Well, I've finally had it with this mini system! it used to play fine, but now won't recognize or play any CD that I put it in. The changer justs keeps moving from one CD to the next, never playing any of them. I went to a concert last night, bought a CD, came home to share the music with my husband, and CAN'T! We've had this in for repair once already, another repair and we've spent more than the system cost us. We're stuck with it, because the lousy economy has left us with no money to replace it, so I'm looking for a system at a local garage sale. Don't waste your money on this one.

Strength:

3 CD Changer, long battery life on remote, dual cassette

Weakness:

Cheaply made, no real power ..only 10 watts

This cd player was good for the first 6 months until i realized what little power it had. It also started going wiggy on me and now i cant get the changer tray to spin without "helping it along" and then the cd is actually under the laser, it isn't recognized.

This minisystem is, in my opinion, the best you can get in it's price range. If you have a limited budget but need a complete system, this is the way to go. I compared many similar systems of various makes, including lots of other Sony models, and this one was the best. In sound quality, it was second only to one costing $250. When I was shopping, I did not care if the system I bought had a CD changer. I bought the MHC-G100 for the sound quality (and remote control), and I veiwed the 3 CD changer as a big plus. While many other systems boasted (useless) gizmos, this one only needed Bass Boost, which does make a large difference (it is switched, but should always be on). Again, the sound quality is very good, and it will go pretty loud without distortion. Overall, I was very satisfied, and I would buy it again if I needed another minisystem under $200.

Well, I still stand by the fact that the Sony MCH-G100 was the best sounding minisystem I could find under $200. However, I can no longer reccomend it.
It has completley stopped playing CDs. When I push play, it scans the CD, but does not show the # of tracks/disc time and then start playing the CD like it normally does. Instead it rotates to the next disc in the changer and does the same futile process of scanning the CD all over again. At first this only happed with certain CDs, but now it does this to any CD I try.

I've also had a Sony reciever that completley stopped working. I feel that there must be better coices for the money than Sony products. I will not buy anything made by Sony in the future.

[Note, my IP # is different because I have moved]
