Strength:

Great sound for such a small system. Vertical loading is bad-ass looking. Optical output!

Weakness:

Bass vent located at bottom of speaker. Only one spot for Audio input.

I'm mainly puting this review in place so everyone knows about the great deal I got on this system. $250. The Cal State Tax was an extra $20 so if your out of state buy this product from http://generalstore.everdream.com/
I'll submit a follow up review in the future.

Strength:

Great sound. Neat looking. Small and compact. Easy to operate.

Weakness:

Its cool to p loading feature can be a bit of bummer in some cabinets, because you need plenty of room to take the disc out. Also I found the "sorround sound" feature to be useless since I can't spot much change in the sound when off or on.

I love its incredible crisp and clean sound, decent bass and slick 007 design. Its a conversation peice as well as a great little sounding system for a good price!!

This is my first mini-system and I must say it beats my Sony stereo system with Szabo speakers quite easily in the crispness and sound. Im no audiophile , but I do know what I like and this was a good purchase for me.

Strength:

The stereo's looks have received favorable comments from virtually everyone who has come to my office. The machine's styling gives it a clean look from every angle. Placing the attachments under the speakers and providing a cover for the back of the main unit means even the back of the system looks good. Sound quality is good, though I generally use it without any of the sound effects enabled.

Weakness:

For my use, I have none. It doesn't put out a lot of volume, but in my office setting it works fine.

Good quality machine with good sound quality. The unit's looks distinguish it from it's competitors.

Strength:

Size and price.

Weakness:

Nothing so far.

A very samll and cheap mini-system that sounds great for it's price. Ok, it's nothing for serious listening but as a complement it works just fine.

Strength:

Solid build, clear and dynamic sound range, Sony's sex appeal, as always.

Weakness:

Headphone port on back, speaker wire gets in the way of the speakers unless you use the extra feet, speaker wire terminals are smaller than the hi-fi's...so you can't use decent cable that easily.

This system is intended as an executive toy, to be placed on the desk...so therefore you must realise it is not some super duper hi-fi system with wicked bass aimed at teenage listeners. It is however extremely clear sounding, with natural bass which is especially outstanding for the small size of the speakers. The DSG doesn't sound good at all when played through the speakers, however with excellent headphones (MDR CD1700) the DSG does have a great effect and extends the bass rather well.

I've had no positioning problems.. It's on top of a glass desk. That's it. I've also got it in a very large open room, and it has no trouble filling it with sound. Of course, bigger and better systems would always do better, but remember the first line of this summary: it's desk top hi-fi.

It's an extremely good sounding system, with an extremely good build quality. I and my partner both have one each on our desks... and we're both amazed at how good they are.

I don't like the fact that I have to get to the back of the thing to plug in the headphones though...but you get used to where the hole is, and can do it without looking.

I don't know what happens to your sanity if you get dust inside behind the glass, but I should imagine it would be impossible to get it out...how annoying! the glass is sealed you see.

An improvement would be to make a place for the speaker cable to come out of the back of the speakers, so that the speaker doesn't 'sit' on it. Also, the cable supplied was only 2cm long, so I bought more longer, thicker cable which made the 'sitting' problem worse, and also JUST managed to fit into the terminals underneath the speakers, however the Hi-fi's terminals coped fine...they're full size.

Hear it for yourself...it's a matter of taste I think...but it suits me fine. There's always better...there's always more money to be spent...but there's DEFINITELY a hell of a lot worse, not mentioning any names like Aiwa (oooops)!

Strength:

Looks cool. Sounds better than you might expect for a desk ornament.

If looks are as important as sound... then this mini system is for you.

Can't stand to even look at those other mini-systems that look like they are out of a bad 80's sci-fi movie.
