Great unit, well made and great sounding. It is getting harder to find these Z110's in good used condition but it is well worth the hunt as it is now Oct of 2009 and these puppies were first made 10 years ago. The CFD-Z110 has sound that is smooth, warm and very well balanced. Not too tinny or too muddy on the bass. With the three frequency EQ you can adjust the sound to any size area as there is plenty of volume.
I have been reading a lot of Sony boombox reviews recently and many customers have complained about the CD player not working and flashing "No Disk". Remember that CD Players are fragile by nature and can be easily damaged by being bumped hard, dropped, exposed to long periods of direct sunlight, dust, dirt, extreme hot or cold temperature, water, poor packaging and rough handling during shipment. I also believe that letting the handle drop down hard on the back of this boombox can damage the CD Player. So be gentle when handling your unit if it has a CD Player. Actually the less you move a CD Player the better the chances of it lasting and working for a long time.

Strength:

Sounds good, compact

Weakness:

MELTED when outdoors in the sun!

I was very happy with this radio/CD player until.....I set it up outdoors yesterday morning for a party (happened to be in the sun)....and the CD lid ***MELTED*** and warped and can't play CDs any more! I am shocked! The FM doesn't seem to tune right any more either!

Strength:

Lots of Bass
Plays CD Roms
Equalizer
Good Reception
Looks Good
Sounds Good
Gets Loud and Booms.
It's speakers really pump out the bass.

Weakness:

Has no way of plugging it into a PC (but hey it was 1999 and no one thought that way then)

No iPod port ( i do not have an ipod but will in the future.)

Well i have had this stereo forever in the living room and never used it but when the stereo in my office got weaker i decided to try this one out in there. It was way better than all the 3 stereos in my office at the time. It has lots of Bass and gets really loud. It still looks and sounds like new. The speaker grill has a blemish on it but that does not affect the sound at all. IT'S CD PLAYER PLAYS CD ROMS! This is a great feature to have and that my 3 other stereos had trouble playing them. I like this stereo and will be using it for a long time. I like it's equalizer and i have the bass and treble on max and the one in the middle in the center setting. It's sound fills my whole house and can even be heard outside.

Customer Service

I have never used it and never needed to.

Strength:

It has great sound and if you need a boombox that saves space and gets a few compliments, try to find it.It plays old tapes well.

Weakness:

The tape deck gets grimy if it's not cleaned on a regular basis. The radio scale isn't large, you'll have a hard time finding radio stations.

This system is simple, but it has great room filling sound capabilities. I recieved it as a gift in 1999 from a relative and wondered where to get another one,and couldn't find it online. It still looks new as of today.(1/3/03)
