Strength:

Attractive looking compact system with quite good sound.

Weakness:

CD trays don't open, cumbersome front panel setup.

I purchased this this player back in October for my daughter for Christmas. From everything I saw and heard from this player it seemed like a pretty good all around system. Daughter loved the cd recording ability and just how good the sound coming out of it was. The problem started two weeks after she got it. The CD Trays simply will not open (none of them). The units display keeps indicating that the trays are already open (which the aren't). So now I have to either return it or get it repaired. Can't comment on the results of either yet as I have not heard back from the merchant I got it from or Pioneer to get it serviced. Considering this is the second review that has had a problem with the CD Tray I am going to assume there is a design problem with the trays.

So if your looking for a good sounding mini-system and want it to work for more than two weeks you might want to stay away from this one. I simply can't recommend any product that stops working after two weeks.

Strength:

attractive looking package (wood grain), ability to record CD's, great price (since it's discontinued)

Weakness:

faulty cd trays, not enough output, lousy customer service, lack of high speed dubbing

had this system for about 5 days, but had to return it because of faulty elevator-type CD trays. my favorite CD got stuck in the unit! controls would not respond manually or with remote control. called pioneer customer service, they were pretty rude and told me to unplug it for an hour as it would reset chip....didn't work. packed it up and sent it back. maybe i got a bad one, but i won't be buying pioneer again. if you buy, make sure you check out your seller's return policy...you may need it.
