When I first bought this product, I thought I was getting a GREAT deal. The system retailed for about $120, but I found it for $99! It has a digital tuner, drawer load CD player, 4 equalizer presets, and a remote control. Boy do I feel ripped off. After starting to build my classical CD collection, I noted that my system would play a few CDs with static and occasionally lock up. I thought the CDs were defective. By chance, tested this theory by playing the "defective" CDs on a Sony Discman with absolutely no problems. I returned the system to the retailer and they did an even exchange. To my annoyance, the second system performed as poorly as the first. Now, the CD player works sporadically and adds much unneeded static.
In general, DO NOT BUY EMERSON PRODUCTS!!! They perform fine right out of the box, but performance degrades exponentially. Emerson Customer Service is also a joke! They don't care about you as a customer once they have your money. Believe me, they didn't give a damn when I wrote them of my problem. And when I phoned Emerson Customer Service at their 800 number, I either got a busy signal or "Customer Service is Closed. Please call from 8 am to 5 pm Easter Time" even though I called during their business hours.

The audio quality of their products is pathetic. The Sound is not rich but extremely transparent. If you are looking for a product that delivers a quality sound at any price, look elsewhere . . . Forget Emerson!
