everything about it

WOW, WOW, WOW, Can't believe it, I'm on here looking for a mini system. And, I know I sure don't want an Aiwa. So I just keep bypassing the Aiwa reviews then this model number slaps me in the face with a #2 overall rating. I get wondering is this that piece of junk that I through in the basement 5 or 6 years ago. Well I get reading just out of curiosity. It sure is, we all got f----- the same way from this company. And, the worst part of it s I talked a friend of mine into buying one right after I bought mine. The sound quality was ok. Then just like everyone elses the cd drive wouldn't read the cd's, play a little then stop. Took it for repair, shortly there after it just did it again (so did my friends) then just like everyone else, they tape player door jammed and it ate my tape. If this company was any company at all it wold have discontinued this product and make it right with all of us that bought it. And, for me to be wasting anymore of my time talking about this really nuts. If any of you buy this unit or ANY, DO YOU HEAR ME ANY AIWA UNIT, YOU ARE A FOOL. They make junk. It's a low end sony product they tell me. We should have all gotten together and sued them.

CD PLAYER!

I purchased this item thinking aiwa had a good name and was a popular brand with mini systems, after about 2 years the cd player stopped working and i tried my best to clean the lens. To this day the cd player does not read any of my burned cds and rarely any of my new ones. Then after about 3 years the tape cassete player stop working and even took my tape and it is stuck to this day!

Strength:

Loud. Timers were cool when media players worked CD and tape.

Weakness:

Fragile cd. Loud hissing amp. Tuner is just OK.

This started out as a good buy. It had the surround sound 6 speaker system. It had great power and nice features. After 2 years the CD player stopped working. I sent it in to get it repaired by the Sears service department. They told me nothing was wrong with the player and stalled giving it back to me as my warranty expired in 3 weeks. I got it back with 1 week left, but never bothered taking it in again as they would have just lied again. After owning this unit and learning hard lessons, I'd recommend a Panasonic Skas-25. The Aiwa has serious amp hiss and the tape heads are inferior. the coloring of the sound is apparent to even me.

Panasonic, JVC mini decks. other Aiwa 3 disk changer decks (all my poor firends bought after I did with similar problems).

Strength:

-Has Power -Produces sound -Metal and Smoke exterior fits the yuppie decor

Weakness:

-CD Player (lasted 1 year) -Tape Player Deck 2 (lasted 2 years)

-Tape Player (Deck 2) broke after 2 years. I''ve used it at most 10 times, including both the recording and playing of cassettes. Repaired it and it worked for another month or so, now it''s quite dead. -CD Player worked great for the first 3 months. Seeking and detection of CDs began to take longer (20-60 secs) after 9 months. It decided to stop playing CDs after about 13 months. Tried fixing it and started playing CDs again. Died again after playing about a week (with long seeking). -AIWA makes shoddy products, never by AIWA stuff. Chances is that you will find yourself with a very big and clunky paperweight.

Strength:

Good power for a small system. Surround and center channel speakers. Sounds very good with the Aiwa sub (add-on).

Weakness:

CD player, tape deck.

Mistakingly thinking that Aiwa was a maker of products of similar quality to Sony and JVC, I purchased this piece of crap several years ago. Like everyone else, the CD player died within a few months. I swapped the system for a brand new one, only to have the CD player die after less than a year. After I brought it to a repair shop, it worked for another few months before it died again. This thing is the most poorly built piece of electronic equipment I have ever dealt with. The tape deck doesn't work either now. So if you are looking for a pretty powerful radio, you might be interested in buying this Aiwa system. As for me, I will not be buying anything from Aiwa again, and yesterday tossed the headache of a system in the garbage.

I bought this system like two years back when I was still in high school and it was a nightmare at first. I bought it from a Sams Club and I had to get it replaced three times because each time one of the speakers would blow out or vibrate or some shit like that. Once I got a good set though it has served me well though. The power it delivers is great for the price. 240 watts is great!! I later on hooked up some Infinity speakers and a BU-2 sub in my dorm room with it. Soon I'm going to replace the main Aiwa speakers with mroe Infinity too because I'm scared they are not that great at handling bass. As of now my system is great though...like the bass I produce is crazy and its pretty clear too. I'm guessing that the basic speaker components are not so hot but the head unit pretty powerful so I like it. I have not had the cd problem yet but I have heard of several people who have had that issue...God it better not happen to me....
