i have had this product for over 10 years and i cant say that about many electronics. this is by far the best piece of electronic equipment i have ever had and it sounds great. about 7 years after having it the only problems i have had were with the tape player. (im not exactly worried about it though) and the speakers still strong as they were the day i bought the system. the cd player works very well too. i use this for my xbox my tv my cable and anything else i can hook up an aux jack into it. sound quality isnt hd but for the time ive had it and the quality i get out of it i would always want to use this system until it dies. :-)

Strength:

Incredible bass, easy to use remote, excellent sound, only $200.00, RCA cable jacks

Weakness:

If played at max volume with rock/rap, anything with serious bass, speakers may begin to hiss and sound scratchy

Last year I was looking for a not too pricey stereo for my room with good bass. I checked out all Sony's, Philips, and Panasonics. They all didn't have what I wanted. The Aiwa NSX-A909 caught my eye with the built in powered subwoofers. I put it on the karaoke mode and tuned in to a rock station. Boy, was I impressed. Remember now, I'm checking for bass here not karaoke. Anyway,I put a piece of paper in front of one of the subwoofers and it almost got sucked completely into the speaker box. The air this thing was pushing was incredible. What can i say, I bought it. This Aiwa is great for parties, DVD, etc. So to any bass freaks who have a tight wallet, I highly recommend this product.

Strength:

Great bass, great overall sound, nice controls, fairly compact.

Weakness:

Slightly gaudy (not as bad as others), unnecessary features

I've had this unit for about 3 weeks now, and I love it. Cost me $200US plus shipping at amazon.com, but I think they are sold out now. Fantastic sound, nice base. I think I got it at this price because it's last year's model, but who would know? DVD movies are awesome when hooked up to this little system.

Kind of gaudy in appearance like most bookshelf systems, but it's better than most. Display can be dimmed quite a bit for a more subtle appearance which is nice. Some features I have no use for like the karaoke, tape decks, and some other minor functions, but that's nitpicking for my specific taste.

Overall, a fantastic system for the price I paid, with lots of features and customization. I would definitely purchase this system again if I had to start over.

Strength:

Strong Bass, i'm talking thundering!!! for its price anyhow

Weakness:

Bass can only be used to half extent on a Techno song, otherwise it sounds "Brapppy" and really takes away from the idea that it has good bass.

Great sounding system, i'm just hooked on the bass, it sounds awsome. The Trebble could have more wattage per channel, but it has enough to sound great. The only problem is the bass not being able to take it after 27+ volume(it goes to 50) and i wonder if its something wrong with my system, or all of them. Actually i have a Aiwa CX-Na909 but is has the same specs as the NSX-A909, i think it might just be a difference as i live in canada, i'm not sure.
I got it for $380CND(thats about 290-300US) But its regular price was $499CND.
If you have the same stereo, and can give me some imput on the bass not having enough power, email me, or if you just want some info more detailed on what i wrote, e-mail me at helmrich@telusplanet.net

I am using this mini-system already 1 year and can say it is really SUPER MINI-SYSTEM. AIWA NSX-S909 equipped enough good to beat some twice expensive systems even build on separate units. It has 4-way speaker system with buid-in subwoofer, uses bi-amping technology, which allowing make sound quality much better. Functions T-Bass and BBE are working very good. 200mm subwoofers, driven by separate amps making the quality of bass comparable with some floorstanding speakers, the bass is tight, deep and detailed. Mid/Hi frequencies sound impressive too. This mini-system is good for any type of music and will never upset buyer, but it specially usefull for modern styles. It has everything for fast electronic music.THANKS TO AIWA!!!

Averaging between 379 and 429 dollars, this minisystem REALLY outperforms the rest! I just got mine about three weeks from now and I'm very pleased with the way the speakers sound. Consisting of a 4-way speaker system (Tweeter, Midrange, Woofer, and a Subwoofer), this baby cranks out a total of 220 watts(30watts per main speaker and 80 watts per sub). The highs are just right, and the low frequencies are reproduced very acurrately with lots of power. In addition, it has a three disc cd changer(able to change two while one's playing), dual cassette with the "TMS" feature from the Acura head decks, a karaoke and mic mixing system along with a jog dial. Also, there's a built in equalizer and a digital sound processor, which allows you to delay the audio signals before it reaches the speakers by milliseconds-thus creating an echoing effect. The equalizer also allows you to customize the frequency ranges you want to emphasize on (Example: you can add more on the bass and cut back on the highs if the music itself is robbed from low frequencies). And last but not least, the best part about this system is that you can listen to external sources through the Video/Aux input! This system is a definite buy for enthusiasts who want excellent sound reproduction for under 500 bucks. It's only drawback is that the housing of the dual 8" subwoofers affects the bass waves--you hear it best when you sit away 5 feet+ and in front of them. The instant you walk to the side or leave the room, the bass seems to have "disappeared". But compared to other systems, this one is definetly the shit!!

Aiwa nsx-A 900I purchased this unit while i saved up money to buy my serious hi-fi equipment and i must honesly saw that this system really cranks! I found a way to hook up my Direct Tv up to it and those digital movies sound excellent. Oh, stand back when someone slams a door in a movie because those subwoofers kick!! For $400 bucks you can't beat this system with a bat! By the way I am selling it now because I finally got my new serious hi-fi equipment! bought for $400 asking for $275. It's only 3 months old!!!!

First off I have to say this is the phattest system to buy for under $500. The subwoofers really have alot of bass. Your whole room will fill up with bass! The clearity of the system is perfect. The built in D.S.P. is wonderful. You can add so many effects to your songs with this. My favorite part of the system besides the phat subwoofers is the optical digital output. I'm planning of buying a minidisc player and now I will be able to hook it up to my system. The NSX-A909 kix!!!

This is a very great unit. I compared this unit with all the Sony, JVC, Kenwood that are in the same price range and I love the sound of this Aiwa. I highly recommend it. Got mine at Bestbuy for $249. 5 stars for its value and outstanding performance.
