crappy, hard to use remote crappy build quality doesn't play older tapes well

This review is actually for the W-603C, which is similar to the one pictured. Although I think Toshiba makes good TVs and DVD players, I would steer clear of their VCRs. Mine broke down after just a couple of years of occasional use. I will never buy a Toshiba VCR again, and judging from other reviews I've read, I'm not alone in feeling this way. Interestingly, I brought my VCR in to the Toshiba factory to be repaired since it's close to home, and there was a sign saying that "effective immediately", they no longer serviced out-of-warranty products. Hmmm. Luckily, VCRs are cheap enough nowadays that it often cheaper to buy a new one than repair a broken unit. One thing's for certain, I won't be buying a Toshiba VCR again.
