Strength:

Easy to use
Good menu layout
Good quality recording
2nd input

Weakness:

Slight delay when recording is started
No LP record mode

The Sony SLV-779 is a mid-range 4 Head Hi-Fi Stereo VCR. It has all of the main features, as well as VCR Plus. 2 inputs , 1 output. Sony Control-S function for control with Sony receivers. Auto clock set, auto station name and program name. Great picture and sound. Nice remote.
2 weaknesses: no LP recording mode, so you are limited to a 2 hour good quality recording, or a 6 hour medium quality recording. Nothing in between. Also, after starting to record, there is a delay of approx 15-20 secs until it is actually recording.
Overall a nice unit that to me is worth every penny.
