I bought this VCR back in '94. It had the best picture of all the VCRs I compared it to. The feature set was average, but the quality of picture for the money, at the time, was excellent. This VCR just recently started giving me troubles. I had previously thought I had a circuit problem in the video processing stage. I just learned were the problem exists, while comparing performance to it's replacement"S". The tuner is at fault. It has given the picture a flickering look. As usual, most tuner circuits are in a housing to protect the delicate coils and adjustable pots and caps. These things are so finely tuned, a detailed schematic is usually needed with a scope, to check wave forms. Most repair shops don't repair this section because of the man hours for labor. They usually just replace the whole tuner, and send the old one back for refurbishing, if unit is new. I originally thought the VCR was hopeless, but is now, a good tape viewing (only) VCR. I replaced this with a new Panasonic PV-9451 and a new Panasonic PV-S9670 S-VHS VCR. The picture quality is roughly the same between the 9451 and the 4351. Funny, the 4351 actually has a cleaner picture in searches. At $260, it should. The 9451 added many more features and was "HALF" the cost. I purchased the 9451 for $135. I give 4 stars to the 4351. It would have been 5 stars, but the failure takes one star.

Getting a little long in the tooth

I've had this VCR for several years and its withstood the test of time. I had to have the tape carrier fixed (for about $60) about 6 months ago, but it was worth it as the picture quality is still good and it has all the features I need: hi-fi play, quality recording, and an easy to use timer.

Will, I got this baby about 3 years ago and it still works fine. The picture is really awesome! The remote control is very straight-forward and easy to use too. Must be one of the best VCR made by Panasonic. The new Panasonic VCR build quality is not as good as they used to be. :(

If you could still find it on eBay.com, go get it.
