I have owned the JVC HR A53U Hi Fi VHS recorder for ten years now and have not once actually got to watch a cassette in it. It did not work from the moment I bought it. JVC offered to repair it if I drove the hour and a half to a JVC certified repairman. Which I did 3 times, guess what it still doesn't work. First it was a "code issue" whatever that means then it was parts that were supposedly replaced. Finally I gave up on having this thing work. Now all it does is try to eject a tape that isn't there, endlessly, for hours. So if you are looking to waste $150.00 and never get to use your vcr, then this one is perfect for you.
