Strength:

Easy set up, Affordable.

Weakness:

The main speakers can be bigger.

I purchased this system 3 years ago as my first Home theater. If you know how to adjust the settings, speaker height, viewing distance and the sound compensation, This system will give you a good Home theater experience. The only other thing I did is change the main speakers with an inexpensive 3 way Yamaha speakers, changed the speaker setting to "Large" and the center speaker to "micro". I couldn't believe what I'm hearing from this starter HTIB. It sounded like it's a tower speaker. with a precise midrange and good soundstage. The highs are not there yet but became more pronounced after you burn in the speakers. The lows can be lower but will do the job fine. It gave me a good experience in calibrating the sound until it sounded good. I've enjoyed my viewing experience for the past 3 years. I'm looking to upgrade to a really good system with bipolar tower speakers and high end receiver. But I will never forget the system where it all began for me.

Strength:

Great for the first time user to Home Theater products.

Weakness:

Small speakers, although they sound better than my new Wharfdales simple because the unit was not designed to push speakers this large.

This is a unit that has been discontinued for at least 2 years, because when I purchased it, it was discontinued and that was two years ago. However it was a good deal. There are folks out their still selling so buyer beware. I am not totally unimpressed with this unit. The small palm sized satellite speakers it came with works great for it, however if you are thinking about using larger speakers w/ it, then you might as well get a new receiver. Simple put, it can’t cut it. I bought some Wharfdale Rubiance speakers a while back and was disappointed when I set them up on this unit and they seemed to me to perform not as well as the smaller satellite units that it came with. So now I am looking at a new receiver. If you find this system for sell anywhere I wouldn’t pay over 250 for it, there are defiantly better home theater packages out their.

Strength:

Optical & Coaxial digital inputs for DVD and TV/SAT, makes a great Stereo reciever

Weakness:

hissing sound from reciever, speakers are too small(Sony tried to make them like the Bose Acoustimas system), "ALL BASS" it directed to the sub.

This is a good package for a first home theater system. It comes with 2 Optical inputs and 1 Digital Coaxial input for DD and DTS. The subwoofer also puts out a lot of bass for it's size and it's only 50 watts. However, the speakers are a little too small and the sound seems unnatural and muted, but I replaced all speakers with Pioneer loudspeakers. There is also a very annoying hissing sound from the reciever.
