Strength:

Very cheap if you buy it online. Looks very good.

Weakness:

It's not too loud. Sub really sucks.

This system is very fine for a casual listener that wants a good system without spending over $1k. It looks really sweet with the towers and all, but it does not sound all that great. The sub is horrible, I got a new one, and that made up for it. My room is pretty big (about 28 x 18) so I needed alot more bass in here. Although my friend has the same system in his small apartment living room and the sub is noticeably stronger in there. You are probably paying about $80-100 for the four towers so you could get a satellite speaker HT system that is alot more powerful for the same money. The setup is EASY. It took me about 15 minutes to set mine up and I was off. It does not have a sub output so if you want another sub you will have to connect the front speakers to it and so forth. All in all I am very happy with it. I am not an audiophile or have extension knowledge about these things (I'm only 21) but it does sound great to me. This is a VERY good all-in-one system for the average person (with a small room). Good Guys and Circuit City sell it for $1000 plus tax and you gotta lug it home. You can find it online for $750 shipped!

Strength:

Nice looking and stylish.

Weakness:

Where's the bass?
Can hear hissing at low volume

Coming from a casual listener, I find this product to be merely average. I have heard much better systems and much worse systems too. The bass is very weak. My computer speakers produces more bass than this system. I felt I could've just bought the klipsch 5.1 ProMedia and save myself some money and a much better sounding system.

Strength:

Good DVD picture quality
Good sound at a low price

Weakness:

Bass quality is not fantastic
Treble is a bit shut-in

This HT setup is fanstastic value for money. It is completely idiot-proof to set up. For a first-time user, it is incredible easy to set up. The picture quality is on par with separate $300 DVD players and the SACD multi-channel playback is quite good for such a cheap set-up. For HT, the sound quality is surprising good, but the bass is loose and doesn't go low enough to be satisfying for 2 channel music.
The Gallo setup is much better, but of course, you pay much more. Overall, its a bargain for what you pay.

Strength:

ease of set up

Weakness:

broke down in three months

The dreaded "no disc" problem suffered by Sony DVD players has occured on this system. I just bought the system three months ago and I feel like I got ripped off by Sony big time. One day I put in "Saving Private Ryan" with the DTS soundtrack and the machine stopped playing and displayed a C13:00 disc is dirty error. Since then it has not been able to play any of my dual layer discs. It is still under warranty so I brought it to be serviced, but I am not confident that the player will not break down again. This is especially disappointing given that this problem has occurred on Sony's older players, but they have done nothing to fix it.

Has anyone else had this problem on the Sony's "Dream (Nightmare) Systems"?
