Strength:

PowerFull, easy wiring, good MP3 decoder (CD,CD-R, CD-RW), impressive sound quality

Weakness:

DVD reader noisy, DVD CD carousel charger quite slow

One of my friend have bought this home theater system and I have been so impressed that I have bought one too!

Ideal for the kind of person that like simple systems, easy to use or to wire but still powerfull. You can use it as it come out of the box without having to configurate anything to have great sound.

The speakers gives good sound quality and the subwoofer is well balanced so it is nice to listen music with it. And for DVD's the 5.1 capability fill the room very much.I have recently lisened Pearl Harbor and The return of the mummy and it just throw me away!

Also the MP3 decoder from charger is impressive, it gives a sound quality as good as an original CD. But it makes a strange noise when reading DVD's, I'm still searching why.
I dont have HDTV but on my 27" Panablack the picture is really clean

Maybe Hi-Fi lovers might find this system to simple or not enougnt versatile but its perfect buy for the mid-user.

Strength:

Even though I am Canadian, price above is quoted in US dollars. I paid $1,111.00 in Canadian dollars. Receiver/Amp: 6 channels @ 100W/channel, DTS/Dolby Digital/Dolby Pro Logic decoding & 5 sound field simulations (Hall, Club, Live,Theatre, Simulated Surround. Two optical & one coax out, S-Video, the single remote also controls my VCR and my TV (at last -- one remote!!!). If you have better speakers than the ones it comes with (which are very nice), the advanced speaker set-up can handle small, medium, or large speakers (depends on speaker range). You can even program the distance from surrounds to the receiver. Nice. Silver cabinet with blue LCD. Very elegant to look at.
Comes with a seperate 5 disc DVD/CD/VCD/MP3 carousel with disc XChange. Silver cabinet to match the receiver. It's nice to load 5 CD's or DVD's or a combo of either and choose between movie or music marathons. :-))
Speakers: Comes with 6 speakers in total. Silver in colour, they are quite substantial (heavier when compared with other satellites) speakers and sound great with the system or used seperately with other components. Good detail and good sound. Speakers and sub are rated at 200W max for music.

Weakness:

When will anyone make a remote that is perfect???
I shouldn't complain too much, because I love the fact that now there is only one remote for my entire system!! YEAHH!!
Panasonic could have come up with a better remote design instead of the "slide down" cover to uncover more controls/features. I would have preferred the skip disc control and the numbers on top rather than sliding down the cover to get at more controls. Also, remote power-on -- a button to turn on the receiver and then another button to turn on the DVD player -- but only one button to turn them both off together. Why not one button to turn them both on together?? You get used to it.
The DVD changer is a little slow at queuing discs. But for all that it can do (and do it so well) for the money -- it's marginal.

I was more interested in music before I purchased this system but apart from CD's sounding great, I am happy to report that DVD movies are stunning to look at; music DVD's are AMAZING - the sound is exceptional(I have a Paradigm speaker ensemble hooked up with it instead of the speakers it came with). Automatic sensing of DTS/Digital/Dolby makes it a piece of cake to sit back and let it do it's thing.

I think I got more BANG out of my buck considering which is very nice, since I always go for the more expensive stuff.

Thank you Panasonic for making a great product very affordable, beautiful to look at, and music to my ears!!!

I had a Yamaha surround system w/Dolby Pro Logic - over 10 years old. I had over 10 years of enjoyment and I still can't part with it!!

Before I bought the Panasonic system, I demo'd the Sony, the Pioneer, the Yamaha surround systems and found that the Panasonic was more powerful, better sounding, and complete with a separate 5 CD/DVD changer (the others were either single or only had 3). Bang for buck -- to me, the panasonic was a better deal.
