At first the unit is impressive until it really starts being put through the paces. After about 8 months of using for our music and DVD's it decides when it will work. 8 months off to Bose who replaced the hard drive worked for a few months back again then off again same problem. (I don't think Bose knows what the problem is) now they have replaced the unit. Same problem plays some of our DVD (store purchased and not home made). Rather frustrating when a person spends this much money to have this problem. We were at a resort that had the units in the rooms and funny enough same issue. It had problems ejecting the DVD's and issues with playing certain DVD's and the resort had invested in a couple of hundred of these units. In good conscience could not recommend the unit.

I've seen this unit at various electronic stores and was very impressed. I've recently purchased this system and immediately became after reading the reviews. One thing is certain although its a Bose it dosen't take the place of a surround sound component If you live in an apt or a small to medium sized room then this is the unit for you. The sound blew me away and changed my viewing experience coupled with a HD 240hrz TV I'm more than satisfied

Garbage! Dvd crashes constantly. Sent back multiple times. System sounds ok but not as good as my bose radio/cd player. Not impressed with Bose' customer service regarding this obviously faulty product. They need to offer a free upgrade for the amount Ive paid to them and Netflix for movies I couldnt watch. Buy a 20 dollar dvd, trust me.

Poor product Very poor DVD player sound is not what I expected I have cheap Colby system which sounds better. I am very disappointed the sound is just not what i expected. Was Xmass present. Will not play many dvds. If they have any scratches at all (netflix) they will not read have to use old Samsung from Around 2002.

BOSE 321 system is garbage! We are having to send it back for repare for the third time in four years. This is the only component, besides the BOSE CD stereo player we have, that we have ever had problems with. We have two units with the BOSE name on them and both need repaired every year or two. BOSE equals garbage in my book. Don't fall for the sexy look, the quality is worse than a $49 DVD player I bought for the kids.

This system is not as obtrusive as many. No need for many satellites and wires and such. Built in DVD eliminates need for separate DVD player, although not compatible with all formats. The sound is sub par to put it diplomatically. I personally cannot understand how anyone could think this sounds good! You must use BOSE cables for speakers so there is no chance to try and improve the sound by changing speakers. The sub woofer is ok, nothing spectacular although on the weak side. It will never rattle your walls. Turning up the volume on this just makes it sound worse and worse. You can go into the menu and alter the sound characteristics, but that offers no improvement. I have had occasional lockups, acting weird, corrected by unplugging and then plugging in again. Then, we come to the price. The price is absolutely crazy. This is the most overpriced system I have ever seen, but then again you are paying for the BOSE name and reputation, albeit not deserved. Best description would be, listen to a real system, put wads of cotton in your ears and you will replicate the sound of this overpriced unit. Lacks serious clarity, mostly mid range, annoying sound. If you are tone deaf this is the system for you, just on the basis of its convenience. And also if you are one of the fortunate ones that price is of no concern.

This machine is useless!! for the money you pay you expect quality reliability and performance all of which DO NOT come from the bose 321 system. I purchased the system in 2002 when it was launched. After just a couple of months problems started happening, things like when insurting a dvd disc into the thing it would take a while to read then would show BAD DISC and not play!! the remote is useless and does not work. After complaining to the shop I purchased it from bose sent me a disc to clean the machine, this in turn stopped the speakers from working!!
