Strength:

Toshiba-made

Weakness:

Slow, slow and slow. Disc change is slow. Disc detection is slow. MP3 playback is slow (and no random). I thought I would like a 5 disk (was going to use it as an MP3 jukebox) but the lack of random mp3 playback and the slow response was just too much to handle. They also have cut down the menu system. My old SD2109 had some features that were not available on this unit

As the weakness section states, I was hoping to use this as an mp3 jukebox. I was happy with the great picture and sound quality (which is expected with Toshiba units) but the mechanism and interface really bogged evertyhing down. Even power up was painfully slow and took over 20 seconds to get a disc playing.
In the end, I watched 3 dvd's and played 1 mp3 disk and returned the unit. For the money, I would recommend going with the Toshiba SD3750 (not reviewed here). It is an amazing unit. Progressive scan, random mp3, and some very neat features (graphical 3d menu system that doesn't hide the picture, virtual remote for those times when you can read the physical remote (you can navigate onscreen through the common controls)). You can even take a snapshot of you favorite scene and use it as the menu background (or for those who have an ego- modify a THX or DTS background with your own customized signature. Very cool and very neat when you first power up and all your friends see your name in lights). I can go on and on about this player but I will have to wait until they have this unit listed.

Strength:

Easy to install and setup. While I have not tried them all yet; the claim is that it plays DVD, CD-Rs, CD-RWs and even MP3 encoded CD-Rs.

Weakness:

Does not come with component video or SVideo Cables.

Although, I have had this model just a few weeks, it has worked very well, right out of the box. 5 disk changer that allows for changes while a disk is still playing. Limited usage so far but will update this as time goes on regarding quality and durability. Picture and Sound very Clear. A basic unit for under $200.00 with basic options.
