Strength:

Dual tray is nice for double features or if you want a movie in one and an audio cd in the other. Toshiba did offer to pay half the cost of the parts.

Weakness:

worthless after 2 years. When asked to give me the 1/2 parts cost toward a new Toshiba DVD player, they said NAH! They just lost a customer and I will be sure to let everyone I know, the lack of quality of their products and lack of complete customer satisfaction. What ever happened to "The customer is always right?"

If you want to pay a lot of money for a good DVD player that will only last 2 years, then this is the player for you. At 2 years and a month, the player died and was told the laser went bad. To replace it at an authorized Toshiba dealer, try $205.90. Yeah, right! I could by a new, one for that (probably better too!)

Strength:

Great picture, easy setup

Weakness:

Remote

Overall I like this unit a lot. The 5.1 sound is great. The remote could use a little work though. Reverse at x1 speed seems to run more like x.5 - not that that is a real important feature.

I wouldn't purchase it specifically for the dual trays, it isn't that often that you need something like that, and if you do, I would consider getting a different model that can handle more than just two.

Easy set up,Plays great

Weakness:

Durability of disk changer?????

Have had it for 2 weeks and it's great!! Puts the VCR to shame. Have watches The Matrix 4 times straight last weekend and can't beleive the quality of this player. If you need a player that has Dolby Digital built in buy one now

I've had this unit for 3 mo. now and no regrets. Both sound and picture quality have been superb. If only I could find the time to watch more movies.

Strength:

Excellent picture and sound, easy to use and set up, solid performance.

Weakness:

Remote control layout and design with limited controls on front of the unit.

I just got this DVD player about 3 weeks ago after my friend who has been used for couple months and referred this model. Picture quality is excellent. Black level Enhancement feature is great.
Sound is very good with Dolby Digital decoder.
My system : Sony 53XBR300, Nakamichi AV-10, front speaker NHT 2.5i, center Audio Center 1, rear speaker NHT 1.5. Overall it has been a great DVD player.

Strength:

Good value. Lots of features for the price.

Weakness:

Large remote, but the buttons are curiously small

Purchased from a Egghead auction for $303 delivered. I've had the player for over month and have played about 10 movies with it. I haven't even upgraded to a DD receiver nor do I have a home theater system yet, but the sound and picture improvement is very noticable. Can't wait to have the full blown effect! I'm considering a Yamaha A-V1105 or H/K AVR300 matched with Energy Take 5s or Klipsch Quintets.

I played the Matix and had no problems that some users have experienced. However, I did have distortion with Disney's Mulan. I would alternate between widescreen and full screen and it would go away. It may have been a bad disc.

The dual disc drawer is a bit gimmicky...if I wanted to replace my CD player, I'd probably go with a 5 disc DVD changer.

The remote is the biggest one among the four I have, but the buttons are surprisingly small and require you to look much more than I've experienced with other remotes.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

Dual Tray is great... I've never had any problems with the unit

The load time takes a while, depending on the disc. The Matrix has some glitches with this unit.

Dual Tray is great... I've never had any problems with the unit. Well worth the buy if you can find it online. I paid $300 for mine.

Strength:

Dual Tray, Memorizes even when powered OFF

Weakness:

FF/Skip in one

Works great with Hitachi 55" projection TV and ONKYO Dolby Surround (Not Digital).
I bought it mostly to watch Hindi Movies since the Video Cassette prints are so pathetic.
Visits to Indian Theatres have drastically come down.

Strength:

Sound, picture,price...

Weakness:

slow access to DVD and CD's....typical I've heard

Won't get into heaps of techno babble as so many others do, and seem to think is relevant to anyone. I will say this product for the price sounds exquisite, has a wonderfully clear picture and has more than adequate features available for a product from this price profile. The remote is not really difficult at all to use...it's simply big. The DVD player is quite large and is surprisingly light weight for the size. Guess there truly isn't much in these boxes...technology does not have to be heavy. I do not believe you will get more for the money unless you wait so long to purchase that all equal products have price discounts made when new models are available. Thank you, I am done preaching now....!

Strength:

Component video, dolby processor, great picture/sound

Weakness:

Remote sucks- the FF and RW are a pain

I have had this player for about a year now and have had no major problems. It does freeze for a fraction of a second about every 2 or 3 movies, but this is a common thing for all non progressive scan dvd players.

No problems with the "disk reading error". Some of the people's players below may have been from a bad "batch" from the factory.

I would give this a 6 star rating for value. Highly recommend!
