first let me answer charles o. if you hit the set-up button twice after you zoom, the zoom on your screen will disappear.
have had the unit 4 months now with no problems.
zoom feature is great for those letterbox format dvds.
bought the unit for that specific reason, now that my w/s hdtv is being delivered tomorrow we will see how good this unit really is and will follow up with another review.

We bought this player for my parents, thinking it a pretty good deal at $279 with five free dvd's and 15 Netflix.com rentals.

So far it's performed well with all the dvd's we've tried on it, and I don't expect any problems to crop up (based on other people's experiences).

My gripes are that it doesn't support VCD's or 24/96 digital out (limited to 48 kHz output), but I suppose this being a basic entry level player I can't expect too much.

Still I wonder how a Pioneer 414 or 606 would sound with a Chesky DAD on my MSB Link DAC... =)

remote sucks. It doesnt play VCDs

It was really cheap and a great value($179.00). Great picture and love the zoom. even has a 3-d virtural sound function, but I dont even know what it does, but thats ok.

In general, this is a very user friendly dvd player with a number of features that makes this player well worth the money for first time dvd owners. Sometimes the player will jump around a bit depending on what dvd you are watching. The price/value for this player makes it number one in the moderate player category.

Great, no frills DVD player. Even includes component video outputs, zoom feature, bit rate meter that other basic DVD players don't have. Besides a better remote, one other thing I wished it had was an optical digital output.

Remote Control!! It was the worst of the bunch that I looked at, but the price was right and folks had good things to day about the unit.

Some DVD games like Space Ace do not work on the player, but Dragon's Lair does.
