I Just bought the Toshiba SD-2108. I have tried the DVD player out on an AVR-3600 550-W Denen Dolby Digital Reciever as well as my Pioneer. The results, I was very impressed! The picture was outstanding! The colors while using the Enhanced Expanded Black level were amazing. The audio was perfect! Very detailed! The stills were picture perfect, not so much as a flicker, and the zoom is impressive as well. The 2108 also supports multiple camera angles as well has having Component Video out's. A wealth of features, to many to list, and all at a great price!

I had this player but experienced glitch problems. First generation Toshibas are known to be buggy but it seems some of that has creeped into the next generation dvd players form Toshiba. It is better than before though. Otherwise picture and sound quality is very good. 2 stars due to bugginess 5 stars otherwise.

In 200 words or less: Outstanding video performance and transport. Very good construction and manual illustrating user scnarios. Good web based support via web-site and e-mail and audio performance with CD's through an external decoder. Unacceptable DVD audio drop-outs when used with Sony decoders in both the COAX and TOSLINK connectivity modes - buyers beware! I do not know about performance with other brands of DD/DTS decoders. I tried several cables, customer service at Toshiba acknowledged bad software in some units. I sent mine back, tried the 3108 same DVD audio drop-out thing with less picture clarity and video color accuracy using S-video connection. Gave up on Toshiba - I purchased the JVC DVD-XV-501B and love it!

The Toshiba is without a doubt the best player on the market for twice the money. I had a Panasonic A110, no make that 3 A110's that were all brought back due to dual layer Disk problems. I replaced the Panasonic with the Toshiba, and couldnt be happier. The player has phenomenal picture, sound, and future proof component outs.
Bravo Toshiba Thanks for a great product.

Mike, I would like to ask you some questions about the Vibrapods. Please e-mail me or post a message. Do you think they do anything? I talked to a Yamaha rep and he never heard of them. What do they do to actually help your system. Thanks for your input.

The Toshiba 2108 DVD player has been working geat. Felt that Toshiba was a market leader and I have not been disappointed. No problems to report. Paid $285.

I recently mated my Toshiba 2108 with a Yamaha RX-V795. I am having problems with audio drop outs during playback of DVD's using the Toslink connection. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you handle it?

I bought the 2108 together with the Harman Kardon AVR-75, and I've been very pleased with the performance of both products. Specifically, the 2108 has played CD's and DVD's equally well; I only experienced one problem with a CD (it was a bit dirty) and absolutely no (knock on wood) DVD problems at all. I appreciate the display dimmer, the zoom, and (especially) the enhanced black mode. There are only two minor complaints I feel which are warranted: I am confused by the setup mode sometimes being enabled and sometimes _dis_abled... this, however, might be a problem with the DVD's I'm watching (or an inherent problem with DVD itself). The other minor flaw is the absence of a 'reverse frame' button; I'd like to have a button that would permit me to go backward one frame at a time, as this would save me the task of rewinding and then attempting to slow the picture down to arrive at a spot I missed by only a fraction of a second. In either case, this is not too big a deal, so I am very pleased with the unit. Also, I've not experienced any picture- or audio-related difficulty with the unit at all, and would recommend this unit without hesitation. BTW, I paid about $350 at OneCall (www.OneCall.com) and would recommend them as well.

I too purchased my 2108 from Onecall, great price for such a wonderfull player.I owned the Panasonic A310 Player. I paid $500.00 for that player and the
2108 has a much better picture. I have never had a single problem. I have a
Denon Dolby Digital decoder, and a Millenium DTS decoder. I have watched
many dvds in Dolby and Yes I have a copy of Mulan in DTS. Had to make sure
the DTS code was passing properly from the dvd player to my decoder. The DTS
dvd system works. I heard that certain shipments of the 2108s were defective.
The ones from Onecall are good to go. Great player.

I have been using the player for a couple of weeks and could not be happier.Coupled with my Toshiba 55" projection TV (with colorstream inputs)...
It has to be seen to be believed. My friends and housemates say it makes the TV look like a HUGE TUBE as opposed to rear projection. The Colors Blow Me Away!!!!
Now I feel a overpowering urge to buy a Dolby Digital/dts tuner.
The Zoom is Nifty.
