Caller ID number has leeched out. Not surprisingly, a friend has the same complaint. Stick a fork in Sony, you're done!

Doesn't read DVDs

I am ticked off. I got the DVP-S360 and it worked fine for about 2 months then little by little it quit reading DVDs. (it will play audio cds, however) I need to know how Sony plans on paying me back. Does anyone know about the class action suit?

I have this Sony DVP-S350 for over two years. The machine was refurbished. The equipment started giving problems just with the C:13 error. I blamed it on the discs. Now, after about a year, it has stopped working all together. It gives the "No disc" error for all kinds of discs that are inserted. It is time that Sony takes the responsibility to accept the problem as a manufacturing flaw and refunds our money to us. How is the law suit going?

You're kidding...right?

Weakness:

Uh, doesn't work!

I had the DVD player for approximately 3 months when the dreaded C13:00 Error began to appear. I had the player serviced and it functioned properly for another 6 to 9 months and then has been tempermental ever since. Unfortunately, the initial reviews were quite positive. I have learned for future purchases, that I should wait until the product has been on the market for atleast a year. If anyone has information on the "Class Action" suit or reimbursement from Sony, that would be greatly appreciated - zazoo2002@hotmail.com.

Contemplating purchasing either the Pioneer DV 525 or DV 440. I will certainly inquire about an extended warranty.

Strength:

when it worked it worked well.

Weakness:

A dvd player not being able to read a dvd would be considered a major weakness dont you think? ;)

This unit was purchased by me for my parents. The unit seemed to be ok for a while ( maybe a few months ) but once in awhile the dreaded c:1300 error message appeared.I cleaned the unit with a dvd cleaning disk, that didnt work.I inserted a known good , scratch free dvd and the error message still appeared. It still plays audio cd's ironically enough. I used to think that Sony stood for quality but now i know better. A utter dissapointment.

I have been experiencing the C13:00 error more and more and finally decided to buy another DVD player. I had heard that older DVD players had problems with the double density DVD's, but now after coming here, just realized that it's a problem with the machine. Although the warranty is up, I still expect that a piece of equipment would last for many years, not just the 2-3 years that I have had the machine. I will research the class action lawsuit and support it.

Strength:

Whole new way to watch a movie -- randomly stops, then starts over in a new, randomly selected place! Sure makes the plot more challenging! If Sony isn't planning on fixing this, they should market this as a feature!

Weakness:

Reliability seems quite poor. There doesn't seem to be any logical reason anyone should choose this product over others on the market. DVD players should last a long time. This one seems to last just past the warranty period.

Made it about 2 years with light use before it started failing with the C13:00 error. Have been a Sony fan for years, but not anymore! This is really sad. Replaced it with a Toshiba SD-2815, which is wonderful.

ADD ME TO THE LIST OF PEOPLE SONY CORP. SCREWED WITH THIS MODEL. I PURCHASED ALL HIGH END SONY EQ. NOW NOTHING FROM SONY WILL BE PURCHASED GOING FORWARD. IT IS LESS EXPENSIVE TO KEEP A CUSTOMER THAN TRY TO OBTAIN NEW ONES. I WAS IN THE MARKET FOR HT PROJECTOR, TAKE SONY OFF THE LIST.

The whole unit

Bad product, period. Class action law suit pending because of this pathetic excuse of a DVD player. Very dissapointed in Sony from the product to the customer service who did not aknowledge that this was a prevalent problem. Had the unit a little over a year until it malfunctioned (C13:00/no disk), Sony has lost me permanantly.
