Strength:

Very strong performer, has many features

Weakness:

mechanic control systems not the best

Have used it to play some mp3 cd's, sometimes i has had problems, but that might be to my own fault. the picture quality is awesome. Took this dvd and connected it to my mom's 25 year old tv (via vcr). Cheaper dvd players tended to have a distored image unless using an RF modulator. This one had no such problem. Not crazy about the disc skip function when i want to change the cd, and the fast forward feature could be a little better, as well as the remote sensing.

Strength:

Works pretty well, when it rarely works. Plays 5 DVDs, plays MP3's - but what DVD player doesn't....

Weakness:

H02 Error In need of constant repairs Having to replace after 3 years Total repairs worth more than the player

Please take my advice and don't buy this DVD player. It has been nothing but a headache. I bought it 3 years ago, and it was in need of repairs within 6 months. It is now 3 years later, I have seen the dreaded "H02 Error" more times than I care to mention, and the motor has gone bad. The current repairs cost more than a new DVD player, so I am chucking it in the garbage. I wasted $40 on the estimate. What a money pit! I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with this product, and want no one else to make this mistake and plow a bunch of money into something that you are going to pay as much to repair and then just replace within a few years. I thought I might be the only one, and then I went online and looked up the error code, and all that I found was HUNDREADS of dissatisfied customers with the same issues with all models of Panasonic DVD players - STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

Strength:

Quick Carousel, Good audio and video

Weakness:

Died after 29 months. Display design makes it difficult to tell which disc is in play from the sofa.

Worth the price but nothing more. I was pretty happy with this unit for the 29 months that it lived with me. Wish it supported WMA playback. Never had a problem with the MP3 playback as some seem to have had here. MP3's never failed to play. replaced it with an Onkyo CP-701. Onkyo doesn't seem to have the same audio quality as the ol' Panasonic and I plan on returning the unit. I did use this unit almost every day since I bought it so, in all fairness, I can't really say that I feel as if it died prematurely.

Strength:

Ha. Alot of refurbished models out there for sale....

Weakness:

carousel, picture, laser arm alignment

The unit has been a real lemon. I bought and was shocked on how loud it was. It sounded broken, which it eventually became after watching a handful of dvds. I had it serviced at Panasonic's repair center. They replaced the laser arm (I paid for labor and their warranty covered parts). Unfortunately, even after it had been repaired, the dvd was incredibly loud and slow. In addition, the carousel sometimes didn't work and would actually 'eat' dvds. Panasonic has terrible build quality. :( It slow and I loose dvds in the carousel. Definitely a lemon. They

Strength:

Super clear picture. Optical out dts and dolby digital. Sound quality.

Weakness:

Slow cd changer. Degree needed to operate unit at times.

I bought this unit initially as a 5 disc music cd changer, but it has proven to be excellent for its dvd, mp3, and vcd capabilities. I haven't had a playback problem as decribed in previous reviews. My receiver can decode the optical signal from the dvd player, so unlike those whom do not have a decoder, I can enjoy dts and dobly digital signals. The cd loading is slow, but I am patient so it is not an issue. The picture is super clear (coax) which makes me wish I had a larger tv (i have a 21 inch). It has s-video out and component video out which is great for those who have tv's that support these formats. Controlling the unit can be a little exhausting. It takes 3 steps or so just to get the unit to play in random mode. This unit is excellent for the price that was paid for it, and does more than I need. But what it all comes down to is the sound and picture quality which this unit certainly does not lack.

Strength:

Dual lasers, very good sound for music and movies. It can read just about anything under the sun

Weakness:

Slow loading time. The unit is pretty big. It barely fits in my entertainment unit.

AWSOME deal! 5 disc changer. This review is for the CV52 I think the only difference is that it,s slim design. It has two seperate lasers on e for DVD's and one for CD's. The processing is not that great but I think that's a plus because my reciever a monster. The disc reading time is a bit slow but I have enough patience to deal with that. It doen't have a coaxil output but optical is there. There ia a connection for an extra sub-woofer input wich I don't really need. I didn't have any problem with it reading mp3's greater 96kpbs so matbe they imporved that from the 51 model.

Strength:

Very good DVD player. Plays regular audio cd's and vcd's very well. You can hook up another subwoofer to it.

Weakness:

No random play for mps and cannot play higher bit-rate mp3's well.

If you are looking for a good player for dvd's and audio cd's then this is your best bet. Don't buy it if you are looking for an mp3 player as well because even though it will play CDR's and CDRW'S without a problem, I have only had success with mp3's recorded at 96 kbps, anything higher and it starts skipping. It also has no random play for mp3's. With several hours of music on one disc you do not want to listen to the same order everytime.

Strength:

Backlit remote control, Large buttons with pictures for people who can''t read, Coax digital output

Weakness:

only a single disc player

OMG, Can I just say that this is the best DVD player I have EVER seen. Picture modulation is among the top five players I have seen in my lifetime. The flux capacitor on it is rivals that of the $7000 player I see at work on a daily basis. I am not going to lie to you, this is the best bang for the buck EVER. The clarity of the component video output speaks volumes of Panasonics dedication to the DVD industry. Let me tell you, I went to Virginia Tech so I know a thing or two about technotronics. Go Hokies!! The audio section of this dvd player is without question the most transparent and detailed source component in my descriminating audio system. The DAC chip in this product is equal to that valued at up to 20 times its price. Bottom line: This is the best dvd player ever in the history of the whole wide world of technotronics. :)

I returned this unit. I am not one of those DVD HACKERS however, I do expect the unit to do AT LEAST what the manufacturer says it can. This one did not. Everything for the most part worked well. The changer did not make much noise. My only real concern was the fact that mp3''''s played horrible. The sound faded in and out. Also, the display did not show track names or folder names. If you want a great DVD changer, this is it. DO NOT buy this unit to play any MP3''''s....You will regret it.

Strength:

great cd audio great picture loaded with features

Weakness:

remote is not illuminated

First of all, let me say that I can`t understand what the other reviewers are griping about when they`re talking about this machine. I did quite a bit of research before buying this machine, and came to the conclusion that it was loaded with options for the price. Picture quality is excellent, and audio is crystal clear as well. Most machines in this price range do not have a backlit remote so don`t sweat it, and you can always buy one afterwards. The motor can be a little noisy at first but becomes quieter after a burn-in period. This was the last DVD player panasonic released before the progressive scans came out. However, if you don`t have a high definition TV don`t worry about it you won`t notice any difference in picture quality. This is a very good player.
