Strength:

5 disk cd changer
picture and audio are great
has all the connections one needs
Great for home theater system can watch movies and listen to music
I got it for $225 at ebay brand new

Weakness:

None this is probably the best value in dvd changers out there

A lot of people complain that it does not play cd-rw but very few multi disk dvds can actually play them and especially at the price range you can get this dvd player if you shop around. The only dvd that close to price range is a pioneer but it only has 3 disk capability and the picture is not as detailed. This is a great product I highly recommend.

Strength:

Price and Value - Changer for the price of Single player

Weakness:

Confusing on-line menus - noisy rotary system

I like it a lot and I think it's loaded with features, but I had a hard time figuring them out from manual which I think is even more confusing, and I had to read it several times. I like the sound and picture quality and hoping to use these as my only player for both CD's and DVDs. Like other reviewer's I'm not too crazy about remote, but the lights don't bother me. The carousal system of my unit is kind of noisy when skipping to next disc, and I'm not sure it's my unit or generally all have the same problem. But then again I'm comparing it with my Sony CD changer. Over all very happy with my purchase. Got it for around $350 from Good Guys. Can't beat that.

I looked at a lot of DVD players, and maybe I just am not as sophisticated at some of you audiophiles, but I thought this was the best 5 DVD/CD player for the price ($300). I don't give a hoot about the style or the funky lights. When you have a house payment and 2 small kids, you learn to appreciate different things (i.e., quality).

Strength:

Price (Under $400), 5 carousel changer, speed of disk changing, audio quality, easy set up

Weakness:

Remote is not entirely ergonomical.

I am new to the DVD market and I am very pleased with the performance of this DVD player. I have a sony mini-system that is a few years old and is not dolby digital. However, the sound quality is fantastic. In the near future I want to purchase a new system. I wanted to avoid purchasing CD player and I wanted a DVD player that did not have built in decoder. I plan to buy a good quality amp with built in dd and dts decoders. This DVD fit my needs perfectly.

Strength:

Holds 5 disks, component out, digital out, dialog enhancer

Weakness:

doesn't display time remaining for DVDs (very minor)

Over all I'm very pleased with this player. I think a multidisk player is a necessity if you have kids. I think the player is fairly quick in changing disks and starting them. I haven't noticed any type of lip sync or pixelation problems and I usually watch all movies downconverted to widescreen on my 4:3 RPTV. I must admit the LEDs do confuse me - I can't remember what green, amber, and off mean, but mostly I go by memory as to what I loaded. Just be careful if you mix CDs and DVDs -- the CDs play alot louder! The remote works well, so I don't use the front panel controls and as for the looks -- I didn't pay for looks. I suppose the CD-R thing is a disappointment to many. One thing I found I could not do was to switch between 4:3 and widescreen while playing the movie. In fact, I couldn't switch The Matrix to 4:3 at all. I'll have to play around
with the features and set up somemore. Overall I have to give it between a 4 and a 5. Definitely 5 for value.

Strength:

Decent price, decent styling, decent output

Weakness:

Lousy remote; What? No ability to get time remaining?!!?

The output on this unit is fine. It has two sets of
audio outputs, which is a nice plus (run one directly
to the receiver, for use as CD player & run one set into
TV). It loads a lot more quickly than my older Phillips
(itself an entry level-model).
HOWEVER, by comparison to the Phillips I have these
complaints: 1) I can't find any way to get a reading
of how much time REMAINS on a disc. This is very
frustrating. I find myself using that feature a lot on
the older DVD player; 2) The remote feels cheap, and the
controls aren't exactly ideally located. I miss the
jog dial on the old Phillips remote. I also find that
the black output level is not black enough--when the
screen should be entirely black, I get a lot of white
hot spots on my TV (Panasonic 36SF36).

Strength:

Picture quality is excellent. Plenty of output options.

Weakness:

Remote buttons are a bit small and hard to operate in the dark.

I won this player in a giveaway, but it'd be worth the money if I had paid for it. No, the unit doesn't play CDRs, but that's not surprising since it still has to be considered an early-generation player.
Since this is last year's model, you'll probably find it only on closeout or used. Either way, it should be a relatively inexpensive purchase, and money well spent for a good 5-disc DVD/CD changer.

Strength:

Picture and sound are clean and clear. Amazing multiplicity of choices allowed in connections, audio rendering, screen sizing.

Weakness:

Somewhat noisy carousel but, really, who cares?

Wanted a middle of the line DVD until the technology of progressive scan became more afforable. Got so much quality and choice for my money that I can now wait without becoming antsy at all.

As for looks of the unit, anyone who criticizes the appearance of this machine has some very strange priorities. And is the rest of their viewing/listening environment so rereft of art or interest that they or their visitors will focus in on and become aethestically offended by a few square inches in a hardware stack? My-my. Someone call Martha Stewart quickly. Our DVD needs a face-lift.
