Strength:

Sound, Picture, Dolby Digital Decoder

Weakness:

Won't play burned CD's

I have owned this DVD player for almost 3 years now, and have never had a problem. My reason for buying was that it was one of the first DVD players that offered component outs, and the Dolby Digital decoder. After my purchase I read an article in a acclaimed high-end (very high-end) magazine which compared this DVD player as a CD player to players costing as much as $4500. Guess what, they picked the Panasonic. It was an amazing article, and confirmed my instinct about Panasonic.

As far as the reliability issues, I have not run into any, and hope I don't. 3 years old and no problems.

But I must say, if these reviews were here prior to my purchase, I wouldn't even think about buying this thing.

Strength:

Great Features and Value for the $ if you get a good one

Weakness:

Pixelation, Lock-ups, Doesn't recognize some DVDs

If you had told me 6 months ago that this was going to happen, I would have said you're crazy. But here I am, posting a negative review of this Panasonic product. Let me start by saying that I have always been a big fan of Panasonic, and most of the electronics in my house are Panasonic, such as my TV, VCR, boom box, portable CD player, and even my 2.4 GHz phone (which rocks, by the way). I'm happy with all of them. They are products of the highest quality. Unfortunately, this DVD player is not. Like others, the player worked great for 7 or so months, then the problems arose. When I called Panasonic customer service, they were surprisingly unhelpful, just telling me to bring it to a service center and refusing to acknowledge the flaw. Being a big Panasonic customer and fan made this inexcusable. Anyone can have a bad product now and then, but how a company deals with it makes the difference. For me, customer service is everything. I have to admit that my confidence in Panasonic is shaken. By the way, a friend of mine has had the same model for about a year and a half, but no problem. Sounds like a roll of the dice. But ultimately, even I cannot recommend this product.

Strength:

Sound and looked good when it worked.

Weakness:

It doesn't work

Same problem here. To think, I spent $500 for this piece of sh*t. I also went by Stero Review's comments when I made my choice. It was out of warranty when the problems started but I bought it using my VISA that automatically extended the warranty. I'm in the process of seeing if this actually works.

As for Panasonic it sure left a bad taste in my mouth with this problem. They know about this problem but they're not going to do anything about it. Sony on the other hand seems to care about their customers and their products from reading their DVD reviews.

I was thinking about getting Panasonic HDTV PT-56WXF95 because it's able to display native 720p but I thought better of it(and I don't want them to have my money)in case some problem comes up later and bought the Mitsubishi WS-55905 and Toshiba SD-5109 with progressive scan output. I'm getting it delivered Jan 5 so I'll post comments after that.

Strength:

Great Features.... plays dual layer discs pretty well

Weakness:

Remote is cumbersome to use. and takes time to get used to. Powerup with a disc inside is slow and ejecting the disc seems to take ages

Well after reading all the reviews on this product , i am surprised at the sharp reaction of the people . I have been using my player for about 10 months , so problemo. Only one DVD gave me trouble that was a rental and the DVD was screwed up. I have never had any problem with the Dual Layer (RSDL) Disc . yeah sometimes you get a freeze for a second , but it is noticable if you look for it , none of my friends ever pointed that out to me .. guess i was looking for it. Picture quality is very sharp. PLays Audio CD's also pretty well , but i avoid playing them on the PLayer (prefer using a sperate player). Sound is very and with optical connection no interference and the sound quality increases tremendously. I think overall it is very good player. Good Sound , Good Picture ...

Features don't matter to me much becuase i rarely use them....

The Panasonic is the worst Audio product I have ever purchased!!!I regret that I ever put any money into such a low end component. After two months DVD's stoped playing all together in the unit. I took it back and had it fixed. It was supposedly a bad circuit. Once I got the product back it worked for two days before it broke again. At that point I returned it for a new DVD/DIVX player. I haven't looked back yet!!! Panasonic sux!!!

Strength:

DVD picture Quality, DTS and Dolby Digital sound

Weakness:

2-channel CD sound

This was my first DVD player that I purchased almost 3 years ago. I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with this player. I have been very pleased with the DVD picture and sound. The 2-channel CD sound lacks quite a bit, although this doesn't matter since I didn't buy it to play CD's.

Note: I am disappointed with all the multiple posting that I have seen on this player. It seems like a few people are trying to give this player a bad rap.

Strength:

sound quality

Weakness:

pixelation

Although I had same problems as everyone else with picure lock up, I was very pleased with Panasonics' service, and have not had a problem since. This unit has killer sound (it blew away my marantz cd63se) and is now my single source unit (for me the less boxes the better). All I know is that I've waited YEARS for the realization of DVD, and I'm not going to let a few tech glitches rain on my parade! So long to movies on laser at $80 buck each. Now if we could just get rid of those damn widescreen movies - it cuts the effective viewing area of my tv in half!

I bought an A310 almost a year an a half ago. In that time the unit has been in the shop two separate times for the same issue, the picture will freeze up after a short while of playing. The A310 definitely has a flaw in its design and I strongly recommend not buying it or any other Panasonic unit panasonic begins accepting reponsibility for their defective products.

Weakness:

Pixelation, picture freeze..

I have bought my dvd player about 9 months back . worked fine till a month back . Then the problems that every one has , even i got ... Pixelation, freezing seems like the player can't cope with the amount of data it gets. This is really bad. I need some suggestion on a new player if i have to buy. I am a bit hesitant . i don't want to get into the same problem of getting the player repaired and things like that .... Any SUggestion welcomed... BTW does the problem get solved if you get it repaired ....

Strength:

Awesome picture, D/D DTS sound, great features and audio/video jacks are abundant

Weakness:

Dont see any!!!!!!

I guess i am the very few lucky ones..i have had my 310 now for about 2 years, maybe a little more, and the player has been flawless...it really has...I am sorry so many other poeple have had problems... hell, who knows my problem might be just around the corner...Until then i guess i will keep my fingers crossed...I will say i use it VERY often...And it has been great...this light pause is from the layer change on the DVD that even the newest players still have a problem with! So dont blame the little 310 for that! Come one people , surely there are more of u that have had good experiences with this player, speak up!
