Harman Kardon DVD 101 DVD Players

DESCRIPTION

DVD is the fastest growing product in the history of consumer electronics, and the DVD 101 is one reason why. It offers progressive scan playback with full reconstruction of the original film image to create stunning images that maximize the benefits of today's advanced digital video displays. Of course, it plays not only DVDs, but also CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, Video CDs and even MP3 discs with clarity that rivals the original performance. Complete programming options and a full-featured, backlit remote control make the DVD 101 easy to use. It even includes a built-in test signal which allows you to quickly adjust your video display without the need for additional discs or equipment.

i bought this dvd player used based on the reviews on this web site and i will say i am not disappointed at all. the difference b/t this dvd player and my old $100 panasonic is night and day. based on this player, i question whether or not the progressive scan even worked on my old dvd player. picture on p.scan is amazing. also, the sound quality is much, much better as well. also looks pretty cool too. very good buy and would highly recommend

Strength:

In depth menu options, sleek low profile style, Exceptional picture and audio clarity. Well built solid unit.

Weakness:

None yet

I scored a great deal on this one. I bought a 3 month old in the box, missing a remote on Ebay. I was also able to find a brand new remote for $18 on Ebay. The sound and picture are stunning. This is an upgrade from a Sony DVP S530D that has served me well for 3 years. The difference in sound and picture is amazing. I am not able to take advantage of the progressive scan feature yet as my budget and wife won't allow a new TV. But even on my 4 year old WEGA with the componet video it is a stunning difference. Money well spent.

Strength:

Solid performance all around.

Weakness:

None that I've encountered yet.

I dig this player. For one it's big and solid... and it has a sweet minimalistic design. But the main plus is both in sound and video quality. Both of which are the best I've experienced in any DVD player so far. Strength:

Nice looks, great video and audio. Nice unique features. Great setup menu.

Weakness:

Remote is bascic. Unit responds way to slow to commands from remote to be anything but frustrating. Noisey and slow load tray.

This is a very stylish DVD player with a very good picture and sound. The "test" feature is gimmicy but usefull for those without Avia. The unit responds way to slow to the remote for all functions except for direct chapter access (why?). I ended up hitting remote buttons several times thinking it did not get the signal but in fact it was and it just takes a second or two to do the function and pop up the function on the screen. Very frustrating. The players load tray is slower and makes more noise than I'm used to also.

Strength:

Progressive Scan, will play DVD R/Ws and Video discs, among standard playability.

Weakness:

none found yet. Price may be a bit high for some - unless you find a good deal...

If you use a high-mid to high end receiver, this player will suite your needs. It has the standard video jacks (S-, component, & composite), as well as the standard audio (composite, coaxial, optical). I bought high end video and audio plugs and this thing sounds like a movie theatre. The first disc I put in just made me smile. I have watched a few movies since that one and have always been impressed with the clarity and the succinct dialogue/music coming from the player. I thought of going with the Pioneer 47ai, but just can't rationalize high end dvd players quite yet. This one is a modest price for a great player...
