Have been using this dvd player for years. Initially bought it as an OPEN BOX product at a Good Guys or Circuit City in Daly City, CA. I usually stay away from open box products, but got this on a great deal. Hands down the best dvd player i've ever owned. Connecting it to a hdtv wega sony and yamaha rxv-3300 surround sound... High recommend it.

Strength:

None in particular

Weakness:

Reliability.

Purchased the Denon DVD-910 for use in my two channel stereo system. It received very light use, averaging less than one hour per week. At the 13 month point (one month past the warranty), the CDs would load but not play at all nor eject properly. It is currently in for service (over three weeks). Needless to say, I am very disappointed with such a lack of reliability for a piece of equipment that received such low usage. I have written to Denon but have not received a response. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this product to others and have since purchased a Music Hall CD-25 to replace the Denon.

Strength:

Faroundja chip provides a very nice picture quality.

Weakness:

Aforesaid very-nice-picture quality not much good if if the player isn't compatible with my TVl That Denon has failed to resolve this is astounding to me.

Unfortunately, this product is not compatible with several Sony televisions. When watching on my Sony (a XBR) in progressive mode, the image flickers badly. I found this out the hard way after purchasing one, exchanging it for a second, and finding the problem to be recurring. I have since read other on-line reviews from other Sony owners complaining of the same problem.

Strength:

Didn't get much chance to find any.

Weakness:

My machine failed to work properly consistently, not tolerable for a machine of this price

I bought this Denon after realizing the 1600 was discontinued. Maybe I bought a lemon but the machine was sometimes not playing the left channel and was sometimes freezing for no reason, remote control or on-machine commands would fail to work and the machine would shut off by itself. Not very convincing. I then asked around and found other people having similar issues with Denon machines. So I went back to a Mitsubishi player and so far so good.

Strength:

Great picture and quietness of operation. The position of the pause button on the remote.

Weakness:

Non backlit remote.

I love this player. I had a Pioneer525 that has been very good but I wanted but I wanted the newer features and abilities of the 910. I got more than that. I have a Sony 57" Widescreen and the first movie we watched was Matrix Reloaded and the depth and clarity was exciting to say the least. Right then I was happy I'd bought this player.

Strength:

plays WMA, JPEG, DVD(re)writable + and -. 54Mhz video. Very good picture! (Better than the DVD-900).

Weakness:

Also a little bit noisy with DVD's (same problem as the DVD-900).

In Europe this DVD player has another name, the DVD-700. It is a quality DVD-player from a good brand. I sometimes have the little problem that there is some dust on the lens. This because it was the first DVD-player from this type in Holland. It has been opened for the press, to show the inside. I use it with the Denon AVR-1803, and with the Tannoy mercury range speakers. A very good deal!
