Strength:

Plays everything, easy to use

Weakness:

Shoddy craftsmanship

After 7 months of use the player decided to die, no power, nothing. I returned the player to the manufacturer. I paid $20 shipping and $39 labor fees. 2 months later I received the player in the mail. It works, but I am leary about using it.

Strength:

Good as a short time DVD player. And has MP3 capibilities.

Weakness:

Freezes all too often after it is a year old warrenty won't cover the problems and is a waste of a hundred bucks all and all. If yyou think you are getting a good deal think again.

The Apex digital dvd player model AD-500W seems to freeze on DVDs that are over 1 hour and 30 minutes in length or dosent play sertian types of DVD movies espically Waner Brothers dvd are the worst.

Well, I've owned it for 8 months now and it just broke, wont register any kind of CD, or DVD. Thats what you get for paying $98 for a hunk of old computer parts.

Strength:

For someone who''''s on a budget and wants a dvd player they should look into Apex models under $100. But if you want ton of feature then check out the more expesive brands and models.

Weakness:

The only weekness I''''ve noticed so far is I had to by a RFU modulator so I can hook up my dvd player. That''''s available at Walmart, Radio Shack, Circuit City and other stores. I had to buy because my tv dont have the a/v jacks and the vcr ones are tied up for the playstation and another vcr for dubbing home movies.

I love my Apex 500w. I watch my dvd movies on weekends so far no real complaints other than having to disconnect the vcr from the tv to use the dvd player. It skipped in only one movie that was Arnold Schwarznegger''''s ''''Commando''''. So far I havent had the problems so many other ppl have. Of course I dont have many dvd movies and I dont have any mp3''''s or cd-r''''s.

Strength:

The price.

Weakness:

Prone to many problems. Skips!!

The old saying "you get what you pay for" really is true. I thought I was getting a great deal. And for a while I did. But as soon as the warranty expired this thing started giving me problems. To put it simply this thing skips on just about every DVD I''ve bought recently. There is supposedly a "firmware upgrade" that can be performed to improve it. But if it was made better to begin with the upgrade wouldn''t be necessary. If you''re going to get a first DVD player, spend an extra $50 to get a good one.
