Strength:

Nice bass response, good general range, very comfy

Weakness:

needs amp

These are a nice set of cans, while they're not the best of the best, there's nothing I'd really want to change about them.
Listening to a range of music reveals quality of production quite well while not making badly produced cd's sound worse so everything sounds pretty good.
One thing I've noticed with more clinical headphones is that with badly produced cd's they end up just sounding terrible, these headphones don't seem have that effect (as much as the 831's for example).

Strength:

good detail

Weakness:

low output, and a bit confined sounding

These are much better than the Koss Headphones mentioned in previous reviews, and with a headphone amp (necessary), they are very good.... almost as good as the SonyV-600, which cost less and are much more efficient, and don't need a separate headphone amp, sounding wonderful with even the output from portables. They are too expensive for the sound they make. I can't give you one thumb up, considering the competition from Sony, which wipes these out completely.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro HeadphonesI love these headphones, have had them for about 8 months.
They have replaced my Koss Pro 4AA I have owned since 1977.
They have a totally different sound than the Koss. They are
a bass reflex design, frequency response 5hz-35khz and are
equalized to produce a diffuse sound field. They are much
more comfortable and much lighter in weight than the Koss.
The Koss are still good headphones, they are just so heavy that they kill your head in extended listening sessions. I had never experienced listening to a diffuse sound field
headphone before. The difference is like night & day compared to the Koss. The sound of the Koss are right there in the ear canal, while the sound of the Beyerdynamic is extremely separated, detailed and much more pleasant to listen to. Bass response is superb, excellent midrange and
treble. Beyerdynamic is a German company that manufactures headphones for both home and pro use and also makes microphones. This particular model is designed for music &
sound monitoring for professional applications but I am using them in a home stereo system. I wanted to compare the
Beyerdynamic to the AKG 240-M and Sennheiser HD-580, but
no one in town carried them. I am extremely happy with these cans and would recomend them to anyone looking for a
non fatiguing headphone in this price range. They can be found at pro music stores that carry Beyerdynamic products.
In my subjective opinion I rate these cans as a 5 speaker
rating.

DT 770 are the best pair of headphones I have ever listened to in my life! That is an absolute bang for the buck.I have compared the headphones to several others at a local Pro Audio store, and fell in love with them. They sound twice as good than the ones that cost twice as much!( like AKGs or Sennheisers) No kidding. The bass response is "unbelieveable'.Mids are sweet.Top end is sparkling.Every time I listened to my headphones I feel like I am in a Multi million dollar control room.I have no bad things to say about these headphones.I reccommend them to anybody from a teenager that loves to blast his ears to top end audio proffessional.
