Strength:

Very smooth response; comfortable to wear;unaffected by local RF noise; both digital(optical) and analog inputs.

Weakness:

Requires line-of-sight to IR transmitter; No coaxial digital input.

Living with home theater can be great, except at night when family members need their sleep. I used regular headphones with my AV receiver, but was disappointed with the "inside the head" sound. I find these Sony ''phones to be just the ticket, with excellent sound quality and surround "imaging" that so closely approximates my surround sound system, that a friend asked "Why is the sound OUT THERE?", pointing to the frontof the listening room! I think they''re a great choice for the critical HT buff who won''t compromise on sound, but wants to avoid disturbing others. Highly recommended.
