I think they are 2009. I bought these about three years ago. I snagged the cord and ruined them but could not get myself to throw them away because I knew the speakers were really good. I just fixed them by splicing them with old headphones for the wire. Well worth the wait. I wanted to see what they go for now. I bought them for $60 back then. Half price is a great deal. They are compact with big sound, comfortable and they look good. They might not look like they block out sound, but they do, yet not too much. Put them loud enough and you won't hear much else. I don't know how they would do on an airplane though to block out that sound, but they would definitely put up a strong fight and fold away nicely enough to fit in a pocket.
