Strength:

Good 3 way action, highs, mid, bass

Weakness:

none

These phones are the best that I have ever listened to. All around this phone is worth the money I paid for it. I have a pair of G 60's and 125's and you can just hear the quality of the sound as you go up the ladder. Very natural striking sound. Highs are penetrating, mids kick and the bass bumps. Grado is just the best without blowing your budget. I bought a pair of senn HD570's and even my SR60's smoke them. I'm very happy with what I bought. The transducers are bigger than the prestige series transducers so they really stick out when you put them on. You look like an alien basically. The headband is slightly padded with some quality leather. This is some high quality stuff.

Strength:

Very detailed/dynamic sound, very musical

Weakness:

Best comfort of any Grado, but still needs tweaks to improve

These are great sounding headphones whose performance almost fully justifies high price. Compared to Grado SR225 sound is slightly fuller/richer with more apparant 3D soundstage and better bass, although the SR225 have slightly sharper more detailed treble. Overall the edge goes to RS-2, but the difference is nowhere near the amount the price would indicate, making SR225 a much better value.

Sound is slightly lean compared Senn HD580 which has a fuller almost laid back sound which many people like, but the RS-2 is more detailed without being overly aggressive.
It would be hard to choose between these two if price were the same, each has its strengths.

To improve comfort, get comfy pads and modify with hole in center, also apply some foam/rubber to underside of headband to increase comfort.

RS-2 sounds good powered directly by portable, but I usually use with Grado RA-1 amp and this combo produces beautiful music, as sound opens up more and becomes even more deatiled/dynamic.

Strength:

Bass, clarity, openness

These phones are fantastic - they've brought out
sounds I've never heard before, even on my excellent
home system.

Even without a headphone amp, they're wonderful, just
plugged into the headphone out on an old Sony
CDP-591 CD player. I'm still auditioning headphone
amps.

I auditioned them against several other grados - the
RS1, the 325, and a couple of more entry-level grados.

All were nice, but the serious contenders were the 325's,
RS1's and these.

The RS series won easily on bass. The 325's were lovely,
but the bass just did not have the same depth and richness.

The RS1 and RS2 are almost identical, with one difference;
the 1's had a big more extension on low bass. The difference
was subtle, however, so given the price, I went with the
2's.
