I bought this used from the original owner, he sent it in to pcX and had it modded by with the level one upgrade. I wasn't too sure what that encompassed so I did a little research. I was amazed of the sound this unit produced, actually more than amazed. I then contacted pcX and inquired about adding a little more to this unit, as in upgrading the op amps to the next (Level Two) stage. It was suggested that I move even farther up to the Discreet amps as this would place the performance info the Plus + range of upgrades. I agreed, ordered the parts and had a local shop install them. This player was nearly the equal in head to head playing capabilites with my Primare CD32. In comparison: There was just a little, I mean a small amount sparkle in the high end and just a tad shy in the lower regions of bass compared to the Primare. I was actually a little upset that this modded Music Hall CD25.2 was actually keeping up with my Primare, I mean really $2800 new, and theMusic Hall, I had invested a total of $400 (including the labor + parts for the last upgrade). Anyway, this is a unit that will perform well beyond your expectations for about 1/4-1/3 of the nicer players out there. Good luck finding one though, if you do find one, get a hold of pcX and take the upgrade advice...It will be well worth your time and most importantly, your money. Enjoy the Music, and Cheers.
