I bought it used for $30 at GW. If you find one in good working condition it's worth $100.

To get the most out of it (and other cdc models) you need to turn down the output volume to 3 of 6 or there will be harsh distortion.

The sound is fluent, well-paced, realistic. Instruments are well-separated and 3D is very good. Good highs too.

It lacks in raw power. Sounds thin, transparent.

Strength:

The CDC-901 is a very attractive unit overall, and has plenty of features. The digital out is a very nice feature.

Weakness:

Nothing you would not expect.

I picked up this unit a couple years ago when my little brother needed some cash. Luckily, he took very good care of this unit.

It is 3 times quieter than Yamaha's cheaper lines. The programming buttons are on the unit & remote, and is very easy to do.

The Play Exchange feature is great when throwing a party, or just listening to tunes by yourself. Change 4 discs while one plays!

I used to have all Yamaha equipment, but traded in most of it when I upgraded to Home Theater. This is the one piece I held on to!

I'm not sure what this unit would cost new, but it is probably worth at least $320 or so.

If you are in the market for a high quality CD changer, I would definetly reccommend this one.

Similar Products Used:

I have used a CDC-565 previous to this unit. The carousel was very noisy compared to the CDC-901. Luckily I found a buyer for my old unit.
