Strength:

Price, sound, design and finish

Weakness:

None

The sound is smooth and warm. I like it better than the Marants, which costs 3 times as mush.

Older Philips and Marantz 6000

This is the first good sounding CD player I've ever owned. I now know what they mean by "CD sound", because this player doesn't have it. It sounds as rich, full, and sweet as vinyl. Listening to music is finally fun again! Five stars for the best at such a low price. I'd give it ten if I could.

Strength:

Good bass frequencies excursion, balanced sound

Weakness:

High frequencies too shy, poor dynamics

This is a very good buy for the money. It delivers bass generously, although fast rhythmic tracks are not its strongest point.
I am a bit disappointed with the high-end of the spectrum. Female voices lose most of the appeal, and cymbals are a bit muffled.
Of course, sometimes I forget about the cost of this machine!
If your musical interest is pop/rock and you are not an audiophile, this cd player makes you wander "Why spend more?"
On the other side, try to play Lisa Gerrard. All you will want is to buy a more expressive and dynamic machine.
