Strength:

Accepts single player cartidges. Natural enough sound

Weakness:

Weak treble. Changer mechanism a bit clunky (and can stick!)

I've found this player to be fairly reliable: though I had another unit Pioneer (circa ~1994 which was stolen). Both units have been to the repairer once, my first player had a lense problem, and my latest one is still in being repaired because the cartridge stuck. The sound is ok, a bit notchy in the high mids and the treble is a little rolled off, but that suits me: I'm not a big fan of newer players with their excessively bright sound. I use the single cartridge (not sure if it's still available) with this player mostly, and it's good to have the option of single/multi player functionality. My only gripes about this player are the slightly unbalanced sound, and the mechanics. If I buy another changer it will be a carousel or a single player. Haven't listened to many other changers so don't know how it compares but it's suited me... Strength:

Sound quality seems alright, but have not used any other changers with my current receiver and speakers. The catridge protects cds well and the player never seems to skip even on CDs that skip in my car player.

Weakness:

Cartridge is a complete pain in the arse. Changing one CD is a task in itself. Not bad though if you change all 6 at once.

Good for the money, but I don't have not heard many to compare to.

Not many except a single disc feeder.

Strength:

Changer cartridge works well, sound is pretty good

Weakness:

The remote sucks, too small and cheap.

This unit sounds pretty good for its price. Good speakers and interconnects help.
Seems to be robust and I kinda like Pioneer stuff anyway.

Strength:

cassette protects discs - 6 disks are enough for a usual week's listening - I usually change all 6 weekly

Weakness:

my model did not come with a remote

after 5 years of good service, I had to toss the thing in the garbage because after 2-3 minutes of play, in the midddle of a track, it would skip to the next disk, and the next and so on. I can purchase the machine now for $ CAN 170 a dn the repair guy wanted to charge me 70-80$. Not worth repairing, so I bought a DVD player that plays CDs instead - Marantz DV 4200 - will write a review in a month or so

Strength:

magazines protect and changes disc fairly quick. single disc cartridge is a plus. sounds great and random play is nice, no repeats.

Weakness:

remote is a little lame but most good receivers have multi- programmable remotes so i rarely use the cd remote. it just went on the blink 2 wks ago

this is a PD-M650 1991 model thats in the shop but 10+ yrs isnt bad without a problem or a skip, so if this one cost too much to repair ill just replace it with the PD-M426 for $ 140+ S&H. pioneer has choice quality stuff in my book.

Strength:

Allows you to quickly interchange between car and home cd decks. Very quick disk change.

Weakness:

Only adequate sound. Horrible, small remote. Ugly looks. Cartridge is a complete pain in the ass.

I bought this cd player cheaply as a floor stock model and was at first impressed but as time wore on i started to notice fatal flaws in this cd player. The cartridge seemed like a good idea at the time but is extremlly anoyng to use, having to do everything manually. Sound is also very woolly and remote is small with all buttons looking exactly the same. That said this is still a great cd player for the price but only if you have a cd changed in your car as well.

Excluding car changers i have never used a multi disk cd changer using a cartride. However i have heard many carosel changes.

Strength:

We have been extremely pleased with this cd player/changer and are currently looking to replace ours only because it was hit by a lightening strike. I find it to be convenient since I do not have a changer in the car and only use my cd's inside my home. Most of my friends have scratched cd's and each of ours is still in perfect shape. I attributre this to keeping them in the magazines when not in use which guards against handling mishaps. We are purchasing another one just like it. I also found the sound to be just great. I believe that solely depends upon the speakers you are using.

Weakness:

On a couple occasions when I travelled with other people and needed to take my cd's, it was a little inconvenient.

Overall, we have been greatly pleased and are purchasing another just like it.
