Strength:

Weakness:

Optical only digital output

System:
JVC CD player
Cambridge audio A300 amp.
KEF Cresta 2 speakers

Cheap as it is, I'm very pleased with this player. As far as its physical design goes, it's nothing special; it looks nice (not too bland, not outrageous), it's light to pick up, and it's actually built reasonably solidly. The controls, including those on the remote are well laid out and nice to use.

In use, the transport is hard to fault and very quiet. Sound wise, the JVC won't set the world on fire but is great for the price. It'll handle anything you care to spin in it. Just one question: Why do JVC advertise the 1bit D-D converter in bold type right on the front?
