bass is good. transients are handled with flair mid range is fair but slightly lacking in something that I just can't put my finger on overall though the 400 really does have that"grin" factor where you sit back and grin from ear to ear whilst listening to some old favourites

slight lack of top end which is more apparent in say the naim cdx

using this player, MF's A3 pre/power combo and roksan ojan 3's I find the
400 still holds lots of suprises up its sleeve. Although setting it up is critical (dedicated equipment rack, speaker placement etc.)even 18 months down the road I am still amazed at what I hear coming from old familier cd,s

You can see all the deep and the smooth of the music. It has HDCD and two analogic outs (one for the amp and another for the headphones amp). I´m very proud of it.
