Strength:

Very clear dynamic detailed sound without any harshness. The transport is fast and accurate, never fails to find a track! The built-in headphone amplifier drives my headphones loud and clear. Digital output.

Weakness:

Remote control must be used to access all the functionality. Only optical digital output.

Bought the Denon DCD-735 second hand (cheap) for use in a smaller system in my home office. Connected it to my main system, and I must say that, this is a VERY GOOD PLAYER! It does not color the sound and the high mid and treble is clear and soft, does give my Musical Fidelity DAC a challenge! This one is a bargain! The DAC is two Burr-Brown PCM61P 18bit DAC, how they realized the two extra bits and the ALPHA-processing I don’t know. The operational amplifiers in the analog filter and the output is the NEC uPC4570, there are better ones available, but this one is not a bad choice, and obviously good enough! There are two electrolytic capacitors at the output, but it feels that the sound does not suffer from them.

Strength:

Hi quality sound at a reasonable price.

Weakness:

Many functions on the remote that on other players would be on the fascia. But, OK, my wife likes that way, easy to operate, not too many buttons and switches, so no big deal

This CD player is a good signal source. It gives a very neutral sound that brings out the dynamics and tonality of the music. I have been listening to a lot of CDs in my collection (mainly classical, jazz and blues) that I haven't listened to for quite a while and I'm impressed by the Denon's performance. If you want quality audio reproduction without getting into mega bucks then the 735 is a strong contender.

Strength:

Great sound at good price. Full digital servo system pick-up laser

Weakness:

no repeat function :-(

Excellent hi-end cd-player.Bass , treble and details very balanced without metallic effect like the low price cd-players. The 2 DAC 16 Bit Lambda S.L.C. + 20 Bit ALPHA Processor works very well to play an exquisite sound .

Strength:

No harshness Incredible detail Soundstaging Very solid in the lower register

Weakness:

Not high-end enough? LOL!!

Exellent cd-player competes with the best in any price-range actually!! Reproduces every last bit without harshness, solid, dry bass again with incredible detail. This cd-player is unforgiving with bad recordings!! So not sweet, not 'warm', not 'tube-like' but very true to the source, yes that little silver disc you put in the tray... Actually that's what a cd-player shoud do. This cd-player does the job very well at a steal!

Strength:

Simple looks

Weakness:

Sounds terrible
Cheap remote control

I was playing my CDs through my DVD - which is the new entry level Sony 345 and decided it was time to get something better. I plumped for the Denon 755 (which has just replaced the 735) with its 20 bit DAC and alpha processor - what a mistake!!
This player sounds terrible! No life, dull and poor soundstaging. My Sony DVD, which only cost half as much, is supremely better - more clarity, greater sound stage, good definition.
I upraded my interconnects (to Jades) to see if that was the problem - it was not - I even coupled up the straight optical output to my amp (this did sound a little better!) all to no avail - the cheap Sony DVD still sounds better.
I feel cheated - this is not a good machine, do not waste your money (as I have).

Denon CDC-735
Looking for a CD-Player?
I wondered if my LD/VCD/CD Player from Pioner do justice to me when listening to straight music from a CD?

The answer, it does not as it comes with a 1 bit DAC. So I was in a hunt for a good Budget CD-Player. Rotel? Marantz? Arcam? Hmmph, too expensive. I probably have to upgrade my Amp as well.

I bumped into Denon's DCD-735 and it is a very excellent CD_Player with 20 bit and 8 times oversampling with Denon's latest Alpha Processing capability. The detail obtained from this CD Player was a "Dimension" difference as compared to listening the CD from my Pionert LD/VCD/CD player.

It also comes with a digital output in case I upgrade my amp to support this in future so my investment is protected for now and later...

All I can say is Try it.... 5 stars for Budget price with excellent dividents.
